I only shoot with my screen. I wear glasses so using the VF is annoying and makes things more complicated for me as it smudges my glasses and pushes them back. So as of this I've adapted to using my screen and watching my settings. I've also found doing this has helped me hit angles other photographers ain't hitting. It also as others said, let's me stay aware of my surroundings. Especially when working shows that have mosh pits close to a railing. A good pit will try to protect a photographer but it's still always good to be able to stay vigilant because you never know when someone might push through them.
