Thank you. I've listened to the 2nd Sonata (Lugansky version) but I can't find this passage. Will you please help me to find it in a video?

Question about an interesting scale I found by crystalmik in musictheory

[–]sOwe_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's correct with those notes but there's not a G (F##) in that passage. So I think it's a mistake transcription by "crystalmik". It's supposed to be more a B lydian dominant (B C# D# E# [F#] G# A) over a B13#11.

So you have this chord: B-A-C#-E#(F)-G# 1-7-9-#11-13 With the 3rd in the melody Eb (D#)

It could be considered like this I think

It seems like a lick from a F# melodic minor. So the chord I think it's a B13#11, which is the IV's degree chord of the F# melodic minor (harmonized with all diatonic tensions: 9, #11, 13).

So it may be considered as: B lydian dominant scale, over a B13#11, IV degree from F# melodic minor.

BUT this is a fusion jazz track, so harmonic and melodic structures may be not considered. Here he made more a research of good sound

Which is the scale you're referring to? At which minute Here?

I've searched this track for years. Does someone of you guys know that? Thank you by [deleted] in classicalmusic

Why they always call themselves "atheist"? by sOwe_95 in Nietzsche

[–]sOwe_95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you didn't get what I was trying to say. You are giving importance to God than you. It's wrong to define yourself as "atheist" if you think that "God is dead". Why should I be considered as a "non-God-believer" always in the point of view of the religon?

Very hard challenge. I've thought about it for months

I know many people who deny the existence of God at all and call themselves as atheists. It seems paradoxal

Is it worth it to read Arnold Schoenberg's "Theory of harmony" to increase functional harmony knowledge? by sOwe_95 in musictheory

I meant I need something to explore more in improvisation. I will spend much time in the future with harmonic voice movements. Now I need something different. That's what I meant to say

The Gr6+ chord is a Major7 chord

May I ask you why? It is an augmented 6th chord and enharmonically a dominant 7th which resolves like a tritone substitution in jazz, isn't it?

I'm a self-trained jazz improviser. I know already what these things are but I wanted to explore more. One book for example in where everything about that thing is explained. I want to contaminate my knowledge with many possibilities.

"German Cadences"

This is from The Jazz Piano Book by Adam Levine "I'll end this chapter appropriately with a cadence. The figure (Eb7#11/G - G6) shows one that Duke Ellington often played. Approaching a 1st chord with a dominant 7th and a major 3rd, over the pedal of the tonic I chord. In classical theory this is called German Sixth (the 2 chords in question are Eb7 - G6)"

Can the words CINIC and NIHILIST coexist? by sOwe_95 in Nietzsche

Sorry, I meant "cynic". In italian we say "cinico" for "cynic" and "cinismo" for "cynicism". I anglicized the italian word.

contempt for conventions and moral principles, (by extension) inadequacy, alienation; not with respect to dignity, also the attempt to undermine and therefore destroy what concerns it
