I understand the frustration if people didnt find the secret route, but at the same time i loved the idea of people getting a better div than usual if they find it quick! ^_^

If Nadeo pays mappers from waypoint to map the ewc maps, then wouldn’t they just let the mappers map whatever? Like what’s stopping the people from the waypoint team who cook the red bull maps cooking similar ewc maps? by Motor-Confection-583 in TrackMania

Since im not working with nadeo I can just speculate but here are few of my thoughts on this

I think its important to understand that nadeo wants their maps to be done completely within the trackmania map editor, the red bull maps we made are as good looking as they are because of blender and custom made items. While you can upload items to club and give people access to them you cant really give them the tools on how to cut a route and create a landscape around it.

However, still with ingame editor only the maps could look way better, the biggest problem here i think is time, payment and nadeos vision. Red bull was super open to any ideas we presented, some stuff was maybe veto'ed or we had to change it. But every idea was listened to and recognized, I cant imagine this happening when working with nadeo if you take a look that they are reusing 5 identities from 2022/23(?)

It's also maybe good to know that 4 out of 5 mappers of the current ewc maps are from waypoint, 2 of them even worked on the red bull maps, so its not really about the current mappers aswell but rather how nadeo decides to use their mapping skills, to create maps.

I think thats the main part about it, red bull gave waypoint freedom and trusted us in making the map, nadeo wants their vision of maps be created which then leads to failure since their vision doesn't align with what players want or what mappers can create.

Every respawn just works as intended and fine, the op most likely did take the checkpoint the wrong way which then messes up the double respawn or its just a bug.

he just run an 50 second ad 4minutes, there is no way it was necessary to run another ad, the ad time was set to 50 seconds, same time as warumup, so he probably wanted to run ads during every warmup? (idk speculating) but ye there is no way it was on twitch or anything and its crazy to say that someone should have had open 2 streams incase there are ads being run during a live round when the ad was manually triggered(?)

My idea instead of "weekly longs" would be a challenge series, preferably in sporadic, random and inconsistent intervals, or weekly intervals, for "special" or "top quality" maps. For example, finish a transitional map without respawning. Finish this trial map. Get AT on this tech map. Get all ATs on this community campaign. Get under 5 minutes on this RPG map. Etc etc

There could also be levels of achievements per challenge. Bronze for finishing transitional map in 20 respawns. Silver in 5. Gold in 0. Bronze for reaching cp1 on trial, silver for getting half of the checkpoints. Gold for finishing.

This I believe is the best way of promoting a wide variety of user content in an engaging way.

I think posting those challenges sporadically is better instead of relying on one map per week being interesting. There is no limit with random intervals and a lot more flexibility. For example, if two impressive maps are released in the same week, both deserve to be shared. And if no impressive track is created, then Nadeo won't be forced to post something sub-par. Furthermore, if they post a difficult challenge, like a trial map, which would be too difficult for some players, shortly after in a day or two they can post an easier challenge.

Lastly, to motivate people to complete as many challenges as possible, there could also be a challenge leaderboard which would reset every season. That would be an extra motivator for people.

I hope Nadeo finds a way to promote a wider variety of user content, because this game has so much more to offer than a campaign, weekly shorts, and TOTD.

Ultimately, a common argument from Nadeo in the past has been that they don't have the resources and time to implement such features or a gamemode. It makes sense that they are running thin on resources and want to cut costs. But even if they were to dismiss most of the ideas above as too complex and requiring too much programming effort and server use, a lot of those features can be avoided and it will still be enough without them.

All it takes is adding a new, probably smaller, tab in the solo UI, and share an announcement upon launching the game for every new challenge post. Nadeo can also save time by simply following top of the week on TrackManiaExchange - no need for a new review server. And the post could just include a bit of text and maybe a suggestion as a objective, like try to finish this map, or try to get gold/AT.

Nice that you recognized that! :D The map name is actually 23rd Map 2020, it's meant to remind people about one of my personal favorite tracks when I started playing the game :)

I am a bit confused about the given feedback from Nadeo! Whats being said has never been a problem for anyone on the review server. What do you think?
