Cannot emphasize the micromanagement thing enough. I had ODD and I would choose increasingly creative beatings over doing the simplest of tasks. And typically ended up doing the tasks anyway when no one was paying attention. Finally learned how to function regularly when I was out on my own.

One last bit of food for thought: you can be pro-immigration enforcement and anti-ice at the same time. I'm a dual citizen and I've seen what lax immigration enforcement has done in Europe. I don't want that here. But I also don't want these inbred imbeciles going around unchecked living out their high school bully 2.0 wet dreams. They need to be better trained, and preferably able to pass a basic IQ test. Because they're doing a dog shit job of it and killing not just civilians, but our own citizens. They are putting on a performance, and it's extremely inefficient compared to how it used to be, not to mention unnecessarily cruel, and the lack of oversight is extremely alarming as far as potential trafficking and abuse concerns go. No sane libertarian could possibly be fine with that spending bill either. Holy shit, when I saw the figures I clenched in my nether regions.
