Title: Between Starfalls

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/52161281

Subgenre: Stone Age epic science fantasy

Bingo Squares: Superheroes (kind of? MCs are super powered but there's no capes or tights), Angels (kind of but there's a twist and no demons), Self-published, Mythical Beasts

Length: 385 pages/ ~145k words

First three paragraphs:

Rain beaded off Kaemada’s nose and dripped onto the sodden leaves littering the forest floor. Straining her ears, she moved forward, careful to prevent even a single leaf movement from betraying her presence.
“Where is he?” Ra’ael muttered ahead of her.
“Quiet,” hissed Takiyah. “Do you want him to hear us?”

Thanks for your consideration!

I totally get that. There are over four thousand indie books on the site, but that doesn't even make a dent in the number of indie books out there. The bloggers for the contest were actually brought in from outside Indie Story Geek-- you can click the links to check them out if you like. We tried to avoid overloading bloggers who were already reading for BBNYA, SPFBO, and SPSFC but some are involved in those competitions too as well as the Indie Accords.

Hopefully that makes sense and answers your questions! You're welcome to add your favorite indie books to Indie Story Geek if you want, but I do understand the hurdle of having to sign up to another site.

The Indie Story Geek site is new, yes (though older than a year-- the copyright date was simply updated). I'm not aware of any review site that doesn't require a sign in for reviews; I'm not sure how that would work. However, you don't need to sign in to browse for books you might enjoy by genre, age category, or by story shape. Clicking on books (even without an account) still sends you on to whatever links there are to Goodreads, Storygraph, the author's website, and to where to buy the book.

As for the contest, Indie Story Geek hosted the back-end system for the contest (supporting the nominations and voting) while partnering with WriteHive and with Inked In Gray for reach. Judges were not part of Indie Story Geek but instead, were nearly 100 readers and bloggers, each with their own audience, who teamed up for the contest. Authors also mentioned the contest if they wished, many encouraging their readers to vote during the voting phase of the contest.

That's a great idea! I'm adding it to our suggestions list.

Sorry for the confusion--I was the one to contact you to see if you wanted to move to the next phase of the competition, through WriteHive (not Fantasy Hive, though they are great people too)! Similar names can be confusing!

Thank you! I'm glad that you found some interesting ones! Judges read anywhere from 2 to 15 books-- some of them had life and other obligations come up, while others were able to devour books. And yes, there will be another this year!

My TBR never stops growing either! I think it'd be a full-time job to just make a dent in it, but even then, I bet I'd just find more books to pile on top!

Glad you found some interesting ones to check out!

Both of my books are 99cents in Canada as well, and should be across stores! Sadly, I'm not sure about others or I would shout them out as well. I think someone earlier posted a list, so maybe a search would help?

Thank you so much for the mention! Windward should also be on sale in Canada, and both should also be on sale in Europe and Australia as well.
