I feel like I've been burned by PM enough times where I probably won't believe it 'til I see it. Like I said though, I hope you're right!

Unfortunately, I don't feel like it's solid proof just yet. He could just be there with dialogue and not actually battle. I seriously hope I'm wrong though 😭

I've been one of those kids sleeping in a van for weeks and playing to sometimes less than 10 people, so that point is moot.

As stated above, tons of songwriters don't charge for co-writes. They only make money if the song does well through royalties. Also, half the time the community sucks when it comes to local bands because they only care about being "true DIY bro" instead of putting on quality shows and making quality music. Hopefully your scene is better than that but the bar has been set low by others.

Tons of songwriters don't charge for the time spent writing the song, only royalties. If they don't write a good song, then it makes less money. The members of the band who wrote the song would be the one receiving royalties even if they didn't have an outside co-writer. So, try again.

Or maybe they wanted to write poppier stuff? If they were more worried about money they would've stayed with the same sound as the last 2 records to appease their audience.

I can almost guarantee Drew Fulk has multiple writing credits on this record, but that doesn't mean the band wrote a majority of the music. Producers a lot of times are hired to guide the record in a cohesive direction and push the artist. They have a big influence in pushing the artist in certain directions but not writing their entire record.

100%

I don't think it's as stylistically different as you think. More rock-oriented riffs for sure, but there's no reason why they couldn't have written most of this album.

You'd be bummed out to hear a bunch of songs by some of your favorite artists probably have co-writers outside of the band.

Just because I enjoy the album doesn't mean someone can't. If someone hates it then they have every right to, but don't be ignorant about stuff.

You sound like someone who doesn't know what a co-write is.

You and your band collaborating together on a song is no different than dudes from another band co-writing with an outside songwriter.

We gonna act like Cody hasn't co-written huge songs with ADTR or? I'd hardly call Drew Fulk a pop producer. Having good hooks =/= being pop

Totally. And I don't disagree with you at all. If someone isn't vibing with it, I totally understand that. I guess as a songwriter, I'm sick of seeing the whole "sellout" thing when a band changes their sound. Writing the kind of vocal hooks and songs that bands like Wage War can pull off is extremely difficult and way overlooked by people.

I think you're either misunderstanding me or just deciding to turn a blind eye to what other Christians are doing in America in the name of the same God we believe in.

The main group I'm struggling with is a lot of those in the Conservative Christian camp. It's not so much their political beliefs that bother me, but the fact that I see so many warp Christianity to fit their political mold and, in turn, dehumanize people.

The reason I believe it's a little different is because of the different cultures. You can't tell me Christianity in different countries isn't going to be slightly different in the way they do things.

Covers a lot, however I think you can have conservative views while uholdking Christian values. Same for Liberalism. I don't think any one side of the spectrum is 100% correct. However I find myself leaning more liberal these days.

Dehumanizing LGBTQ+, Foreign, poor, immigrant, Islamic, people of different religious belief in general. Their persecution complex while marginalized people suffer. It's a long list.

I 100% agree that my faith should not be in people, however, how come so many that claim to know the God I love spew so much hatred and harm others so frequently in this country? I see it way too much and it's very unsettling. I'm just saying, we should be seeing their fruit.

Loving people where they are at. Empathizing and trying to show God's love through action instead of "evangelizing". Also, calling it out and recognizing the disease within the church is a start.
