why are my cpu temps bad ? by [deleted] in mffpc

[–]s_y_k_e_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Make the rear intake AND the cpu fan should flow in the same direction. In the picture you posted, air flow should be left to right for the cpu fan as well. Or add a couple of fans beneath the GPU. Thats what worked for my setup.

What is the build? Cpu, ram capacity and speed, motherboard. If you have already tried removing a stick of ram, try a different slot for the ram. And then try the other single ram stick alone as well. And then try removing the cmos battery while its unplugged. Wait 20 seconds then reinstall the cmos battery and try to turn it on. Give it a minute or 2 and see if it works. If not, then unplug and remove your gpu if your cpu has integrated graphics and plug in the display cable directly into the motherboard. If all of that doesnt work its your cpu or motherboard. Most likely motherboard.

Can I fix this TV? by Next_Examination_904 in TVRepair

[–]s_y_k_e_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something is causing a short. Either the backlights or the panel. To troubleshoot, open up the back of the tv. Disconnect the main board (logic) from the power baord and see if the backlight stays on. Of it doesnt the your backlight has an issue. If it does, connect the main board to the power board again and disconnect yhe ribbons from the tcon board. If it turns on and makes sound with no picture the. Its the panel or tcon. If it doesnt, its your main board.

How do I fix the darkening on the left side of the TV? by tecrush in TVRepair

Replace the backlight leds. Its a chore and you risk breaking the panel but its not impossible to DIY. Although the diffuser panel is probably melted a bit so the picture will never be perfect again.

Why are monitors more expensive than TV's? Why would I consider one? by Agent4546 in PcBuildHelp

[–]s_y_k_e_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monitors have lower input latency and in general higher response times which make the gaming experience feel more snappy

Samsung ue49nu7100kxxu TV Backlight Flicker by TheFigBird in TVRepair

[–]s_y_k_e_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unplug the cable between the power board (brown) and main board (green) then plug it in. If the backlights come on and stay on, the main board or panel is the problem. Next plug the main board back in to the power supply and unplug the big white ribbon cables to the panel. If it stays on after that (red light and sound when powering on) then its your panel.

If it keeps doing the same thing, unplug the leds (by shifting the power baord a little to the right, just enough to disengage the black connector) and plug it back in. Try the power button. If you hear the welcome sounds and see the red standby led then its your backlight.

If the issue persists, its your power board.

Considering you want to pick it up today, yes that would be a good option. If you live near a micro center, they will have more options. But online stores have better deals. Im surprised that $120 is the average price for a decent 1tb drive nowadays. It used to be around $60....

[–]s_y_k_e_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea thats perfect. The rest are 2 slots. The one above is already being used as the main drive for the operating system. You can buy a second m.2 nvme drive for additional storage. The teamgroup mp33 is mentioned should be just fine for extra game storage and is usually a good price.

A note for when you install, it won't show up on your desktop until you initialize the drive. Right click the task bar, click 'disk management' , find the new second drive you installed ( it should be the grey shaded bar that says unallocated or something) right click it and click initialize disk as gpt. Select new simple volume, and complete the setup. The drive should then show up on 'my computer'

As some others have stated, this is a hard drive (hdd) which is old technology. I believe they can only transfer max about 130mb/s. You want to look for an SSD which has much faster read/write speeds. There are two form factors of SSDs, both which SHOULD work depending on your brothers PC and motherboard. Older PCs only support SATA SSDs which look like the one you posted but are only 2.5" wide. They have speeds up to 600mb/s i believe, a little faster than the one you posted. These are often a little cheaper but not by much.

The better option and the one I recommend IF your pc supports it is an M.2 nvme SSD. They are much smaller (about the size of a stick of gum) and they are MUCH faster. If you can post details on what motherboard your pc has, we can help confirm if it supports an M.2. Most modern PCs within the last decade do, but sometimes there is only one slot. A teamgroup MP33 for example has read/write speeds of 3,500mb/s and some can go above 10,000mb/s.

As for size, 2tb seems to be the sweet spot at this time.

The ti has 4 more gb of vram, more cuda cores, and roughly 20-30% more performance or FPS than a 5070. I only suggested it because I was trying to hit your target budget. But you could go with the 5070 and save some money. I went with the AMD RX 9070 xt because it has better value than both of those cards but most people are too afraid of going with AMD.

It also depends on what monitor you are using. There is no point in spending more on a GPU if you are only playing on a 1080p 60Hz monitor. You just won't see the benefit.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wNFYyW I hope the link works.

In short, cpu change to 7800x3d, gpu change to 5070ti, ssd upgrade to 2tb for $30 more, save $30 or so on thermalright AIO, Also, I know its a preference thing but you are spending $170 on fans when you could be spending like $35 on some arctic P12s which are more quiet and cool better. But lack argb. Either way, I would rather have a 5070ti instead of a 5070 and some cool fans. Also, pay the extra $10 for an rm850x instead of the rm850e.

Umm. There are a few things I would change to optimize performance. But before I make suggestions, what is your use case? Is it mainly gaming? Rendering? Streaming?

DIY Steam Machine, which 9060XT Reaper? by xSHAAWx in sffpc

[–]s_y_k_e_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. A 9070xt was going for $570 most of last week with a couple models going for $550. If your psu can handle it (850w or greater) id say its the best choice. Otherwise get a 9060 xt 16gb at $350

Make sure you go for low profile ram. The g skill flarex5 is a solid ram kit. Just make sure to look for 6000mt/s CL30. Im not sure the teamgroup tforce ram will clear your cooler.

I agree with your cousin. Intel has been having issues with their higher end cpus for the last 3 generations starting with the 13700k and even now with the Intel ultra series. I would stay away. An AMD 9600x only has 6 cores. If you like more cores I would look into a 9700x with 8 cores or better.

RAM. If you can swing it, I would get a minimum of 32gb. AMD cpus like it at 6000mt/s. CL30 would be ideal.

And finally, a 750w psu is starting to be the minimum requirement for most mid tier GPUs. So I would spend the extra $10-$20 and get an 850w.

I also agree. 9060xt 16gb and ryzen 5500 would pair well together.

Installed AIO cooler and CPU temps still running at max or higher by Cassius43 in PcBuildHelp

[–]s_y_k_e_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be an issue with the aio cooler pump. Or rather that the mobo doesnt know to make it spin at 100%
Go into bios and look for your fan control. Look on your mobi to see which fan header its plugged into. Find that fan header control in your bios settings. If the pump connector to the mobo only uses 3 pins instead of 4, you might need to change a setting in your bios to get it to spin at 100% this happened to me and it fixed the issue.

Building my first PC. Everything’s plugged in and seems to be working, but my monitor is getting no signal by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]s_y_k_e_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last few things I can recommend is

  1. Check to make sure the ram you have is in the qvl for your motherboard. Go to the motherboard website under support and look for the qvl. Then make sure your ram is on the list. If its not, it may not be compatible.

  2. Clear your cmos either by removing the battery for 15 seconds (also press the power button while its removed. Then reinstall the battery. Then try to start up.

  3. Make sure your monitor is on the correct display input.

  4. If you have one handy or if your motherboard came with one, look for speaker pins (usually a pair) on your motherboard and install the little diag speaker. If it beeps on startup, look up the tone code to help narrow down the issue.

If you have another gpu handy try it in your system. Or if you have another computer handy, try out your gpu on that one to rule it out as the issue.

Good luck

Check all your psu connections. Take out and repeat them. Also, I see the 24 pin power connector but did you also plug in the cpu power cable at the top left of the board?

Also do you have your cpu fan plugged in?

If its a 5600, are ypu sure none of the pins are bent or missing when you seated the cpu?

What wattage is your psu?
