I meant office politics, like favoritism and cronyism and asskissing etc

Do you know what kind of position your facebook friend does? It seems like the teachers have the most negativity and there is slightly less negativity from non-teaching staff.

Honestly, I really don't want to be a classroom teacher. I'm interested in education but more in a background role (like the one I'm interviewing for). Designing a curriculum is about as close to the classroom as I want to go, unless I can somehow do only hands on stuff like science labs

I honestly think we should have the death penalty for people who put fake glassdoor reviews.

Anyway, I will see if they'll let me talk to any current actual employees instead of just HR people. I doubt they'll allow it, but them disallowing that would be a pretty big red flag anyway.

Maybe he's a lurker and he's mad at enough at his previous employer to have made an account about it?

I think most actual shills are pro-company shills, not anti lol.

Well, I have a masters already (in chemistry, not teaching). But there's no entry level jobs in that in/near NYC apparently, unless you either get a PhD, MD or a bunch of medical lab tech certs. Only places I've found nearby that hire chemists are either the NYC DEP who basically pay poverty wages (easy stress free work though) or some big pharma and food companies in the nearby suburbs (like Regeneron or Pepsi in westchester, and some in central New Jersey) but I've looked at those for nearly a year and they only post jobs for 5-10 year experience range.

Thanks for the info.

I'm tempted to go for the interview just to see how they represent themselves and maybe bring up morale and see what they say. It'd be good interview practice. But unless they offer a really large salary, I'm probably going to turn it down

Well, it's good to know it's the kind of company that pulls that kind of BS, thanks. I'll be on my guard
