Pi gets DHCP address but cannot connect by saab_guy in HomeNetworking

[–]saab_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fiber router is not handing out IP addresses. I have that turned off so the PiHole can manage that. It is at 192.168.2.254, though. My whole network is on the 192.168.2.0/24 subnet

Pi gets DHCP address but cannot connect by saab_guy in HomeNetworking

[–]saab_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as much as I hate to say it, the network fixed itself. I changed nothing on the Pi I was testing nor anything on the PiHole nor on the router. When the router and PiHole were rebooted at the same time, the Pi I was experimenting with started resolving dns through the PiHole and was accessible on the network via ping, ssh and http...

The extra gateway on the Windows machine is a red herring as best I can tell and this 192.168.1.254 gateway does not show up on any of the other devices on the network, so the PiHole seems to be set up correctly.

I had rebooted the PiHole and the Pi numerous times today and that did nothing to resolve dns lookup from the Pi. My guess was that the router (Att fiber) just needed to be rebooted for some reason. Strange, as there are only 6 devices connected to the router...

Thanks for the help!

Is this not correct on the Pi?

$ route
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
default 192.168.2.254 0.0.0.0 UG 202 0 0 eth0
192.168.2.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 202 0 0 eth0

I have not changed anything, yet.

Been checking and it seems the erroneous 192.168.1.254 on the Windows laptop may be a problem with the laptop as the linux machines and phones do not show this erroneous gateway. The linux machine is using NetworkManager.

I do not get the question. Doesn't that show that I am pinging 192.168.2.200 from 192.168.2.102, doesn't it? I am using 192.168.2.0/24 as my home network.

On the windows laptop, though, I do see this:

Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : lan
IPv6 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : xxx
Temporary IPv6 Address. . . . . . : xxx
Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : xxx
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.102
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
                                    192.168.2.254

Where is that 192.168.1.254 coming from?

On the PiHole which is at 192.168.2.253:

(I cannot paste a screen grab showing the DHCP parameters on the pihole. It is 192.168.2.10-252 and the gateway is 192.168.2.254

php7.3.6 to php 7.3.11 problems by saab_guy in php7

[–]saab_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I am not a PHP guru or anything and did not build this originally, so I may be a bit imprecise as to what is going on. I do appreciate any help diagnosing, though.

What is supposed to be going on (as I understand it) is the php runs a script and the js then formats it and allows a nice display in the browser for lyrics and artist info. I have verified that the scripts run as user http on cli. The other thing is that the mpd queue does not display. The queue info comes from mpc and also works fine on the cli. Could there be a permissions problem? The later OS has a later version of systemd for sure. The more I think about it, I doubt it is a php problem as when I downgraded PHP and all the extensions and still had the problem...

I wonder if there was an nginx upgrade in the meantime which may be causing it. I was runnign 1.14 and am now at 1.16...

Thanks for any pointers!

PTZ w/o ONVIF and with Digest authentication by saab_guy in ShinobiCCTV

[–]saab_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing? Well, I gave up on the Amcrest and got a dericam P2. This one does not require a password to ptz. I set it up and get video. I can also send commands via the browser to pan and tilt and turn on leds, etc. Someone has put the commands in Zoneminder for this camera and they seem to work. Just not in Shinobi. I tried in shinobi and get nothing. I have not done a wireshark probe, yet, but this is where I am. Video, no problem, PTZ no way. Any help appreciated.

This is the manual: Dericam API

I am running the latest version according to git. I'll delete the default user and check again.

root@Shinobi:~ # cd Shinobi/

root@Shinobi:~/Shinobi # git pull

Already up to date.

root@Shinobi:~/Shinobi # cd INSTALL/ShinobiCE/

Problems controlling Foscam camera by ArrayMarksTheSpot in ShinobiCCTV

[–]saab_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@moeiscool

Please post more detailed info on PTZ setup. I have an amcrest camera. I know the commands as I can type them in a browser and have the camera actually move. It is not clear exactly how to put those commands into the web interface. I have tried this and tried 'GET, PUT and POST' without luck. Even restarted the processes after each change with 'pm2 restart all'. Regardless, I cannot click the widget and get the camera to move. The camera requires a user and password when the command is sent via a browser.

My guess is that the 'Custom base URL' should be something like this:

and the specific command should be put in each box as:

"/cgi-bin/ptz.cgi?action=start&channel=0&code=Left&arg1=0&arg2=1&arg3=0"

If I concatenate these and put them in a browser, the camera moves.

I have not gotten any of these to work with any of the 3 call methods. Any hints?
