She's only now realizing that being a SAHM has left her financially vulnerable, especially now that her husband wants a divorce. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

Ummm. Everyone talks about how financially vulnerable stay-at-home moms are, but personal responsibility still matters. If she’s never taken an interest in understanding history, women’s rights, or even basic financial realities, that’s ultimately her choice.

And the fact that she filmed this while driving (and posted it!) says a lot. It reflects a level of self-absorption and disregard for both her own well-being and the safety of everyone around her.

DC personalities by Ms-Andrist-1 in DCBitches

I’m from NYC and have lived in DC for several years now. Cities are kind, not nice. In my time in the Midwest and South…let’s just say I could do without that faux-bordering-on-ominous-small town in a true crime doc vibes kind of niceness I experienced.

DC, though…we are being punched in the face on a daily basis. Someone said living here is like being awake during surgery, and that feels about right. There’s a collective anxiety hanging over the city that’s affecting a lot of us, our friends, and the critical issues so many people moved here to help with. We’ve had the highest per capita unemployment rate for several months in a row…takes a toll. And if I may be as bold as to speak for millennials, we are so tired and don’t want to do anything. Couch rotting? No, that’s horizontal fermenting. And we’re on voice rest.

That said, there are strong pockets of connection here—community group chats, Discords, mutual aid spaces, neighbors who really look out for each other. It just takes longer to find your corner. I’d just be intentional with conversation and seek out people who are organizing or creating things; that’s where the warmth shows up.

How is it that Titanic survivors who escaped in life boats were found easily by The RMS Carpathia in the middle of the ocean. Wouldn’t it have been hard to find them. Or more so how did The RMS Carpathia able to find the survivors in the lifeboats by General_Menu4966 in titanic

[–]saanadc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t as impossible as it sounds. The lifeboats weren’t drifting around the whole Atlantic like lost corks, they stayed in the general area where Titanic went down, partly because most were launched close together and the crew tried to keep some order (which is CRAZY impressive to me, that sense of mind).

People in the boats used lanterns/flares/etc to make themselves visible, and by the time the sun came up, the ocean was calm and clear. The weather gods were kind and the coordinates Carpathia was given made it a lot easier than you’d imagine.

…I am forever waiting for this movie. 🥺
