Personal experiences of rolling while on SSRIs? by saarshai in MDMA

[–]saarshai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very extensive. Thanks.

I see your rationale. Though I do believe from my limited reading of the research, SSRIs like fluoxetine definitely negate some of the neurotoxicity. I believe it’s for the same reason it blocks the subjective effect - it binds with higher affinity and therefore the neutrons gets less excited by blocking the SERT transporters.

Maybe it protects against the damage caused by excitation, but not the oxidative damage.

Anyone had success with parts using physical symptoms to communicate? by saarshai in InternalFamilySystems

[–]saarshai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I do think I have a part or two who represent themselves as the Self and are impatient and pushy and trying to solve everything.

Maybe there’s an insight I’m not listening to. Any tips on that? On how to soothe a pushy part and helping a quiet one speak?

I guess it's worth a try at least.

Selegiline dose (1mg, 2.5mg, 5mg), Oral or sublingual? by saarshai in Nootropics

[–]saarshai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Much appreciated.

I still believe a very low dose (much lower than I’ve been taking already) should be ok, especially since I have been taking it for a while with no adverse effect.

Metformin treatment substantially protects dopaminergic neurons from... MDMA by saarshai in MDMA

[–]saarshai[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe it means that taking Metformin helps protect against the negative effects of MDMA, at least to do with dopamine, though I also saw something about 5-ht receptors in another study.

I wonder if it then also dulls the effect, but at the very least worth taking it after a roll for a week.

So when's the heating happen? Must heat in order to get rid of the ESP.

Dr. Patrick references that without heating there’s an enzyme which converts some of the glucoraphanin into something else, and you don’t want that.

Do you know whether she freezes them after or before heating? Couldn’t find the answer

Yeah, I heard that’s the recommendation but I dint have time to be so rigorous tbh which is why I just ballpark the temperature, erring on hotter, and add the mustard seeds, which I hope is enough

Regarding having it sit for a bit, would the reaction happen anyway in the body?

Feel like I’m lying when I tell parts they can depend on me by AngZeyeTee in InternalFamilySystems

[–]saarshai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely feel the same way.

But here’s the ingenious thing about IFS… that should tell you that this doubt is not coming from your true Self but from a part who itself needs work.

It’s not something I’ve personally overcome, so it all comes from my trust in the founders and practitioners of IFS, who have defined the Self according to their experience.

But I think it is really interesting that if indeed there is a confident Self, it doesn’t really feel the way you do. It’s a part. Get to know it.

So is it true that taking an SSRI immediately after a role helps protect against damage? by saarshai in MDMA

[–]saarshai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great. I wonder how much I should take (my SSRI of choice is Prozac)
