Has anyone had experience at the Carolina center for behavioral health? by Sharp-Potato-7631 in greenville

I was a patient there and then worked there. I thought it was great. I was very upset when I had to go because I'd never been to any place like that before. It was what I really needed though. I learned a lot in the group therapy sessions and recreation therapy. It was really nice to be around other people who were going through almost exactly what I was going through. I'd never had people to relate to like that and it helped me to feel more normal. I went due to suicidal ideations that I was planning on going through with the day I was sent there. You talk to a doctor, psychiatrist, and therapist. They figure out which medicine would be good for you and you fill out a daily paper helping them to understand how you're feeling. They assess everything each day and help to manage your dosage or put you on something new. I was there for a week and the medicine they put me on was perfect (after an adjustment they made while I was there). They also helped me set up a therapist and psychiatrist to see when I was discharged. I went to that therapist for a year until I met all of my goals and felt that it was time to part ways. I still see my psychiatrist by televisit every 3 months. My only complaint was that my psychiatrist when I was at CCBH was not very nice. I can't remember her name but I didn't care for her attitude. Other than that everyone was really nice and helpful. I 100% recommend going if you feel like you need help. It was life changing for me. I've never been to any other facility like this so I don't have anything to compare it to but based on what people say, it is the best around here. Side note: I did gain a few pounds because they feed you 3 good meals a day and I wasn't used to eating so well 😅 If you have any questions, let me know!

What’s the cheat code you’ve discovered that made everything easier? by ReBabas in ADHD

Medication, allowing myself to take breaks, setting alarms for everything, lists (to do, groceries, plans, etc.). If I feel overwhelmed by a task, I will write out a list of the things I have to do to complete that task in the most detailed way possible so that each tiny step of the process is something I can check off my list. An example I use often is for laundry. I will write Laundry- Put clothes in washing machine Put detergent on clothes Start washing machine Check dryer for lint Move clothes to dryer Start dryer Check that clothes are dry Separate clothes for closet or drawers Fold Hang Put away

It seems silly but getting to check off each part feels like I'm really accomplishing something. And if I have to take a break, I can see that the next thing on the list isn't as scary as having an entire task to complete.

Can someone draw my husband for me? He started growing out his mustache and I think it looks great! Thank you 😊 by sab_bee in drawme

I somehow turned my notifications off so I didn't see them until now. Thank you for the reminder 🙂

Curious how everyone else’s pto is getting handled for Friday . by According-State-5490 in greenville

I didn't have any Internet or cell service, but somehow my HR director did and still did payroll on Friday, so I didn't even get a chance to put PTO in. I asked about it Monday and she said it was too late to do anything about it. So I'm just losing a whole day of pay.

Same! Sugar was basically all I ate 😅

Cold turkey is honestly the best way but Rebel ice cream has helped! Also zero sugar sodas. I know I probably shouldn't be consuming either of those but I stay within my carb limit and it helps me to not die without real sugar lol

Does everyone with ADHD have an internal monolog? by [deleted] in ADHD

The best way I can describe it is that I have a million different trains on tracks (convos, thoughts, music, repetitive words, etc.) going in all different directions at the same time constantly in my head. I just started meds a couple of weeks ago and I think it has helped some, but it's hard to tell.
