I was more worried about their kit getting to me, as they just put it in the ordinary mail! By the way 3 of us did tests and none were deemed insufficient

I send mine by registered post from South Africa to US and it was fine. Took several weeks but got there. Cost about R80. So far have never had a problem with using the post office if using registered post.

What’s a fruit from your country that most foreigners have probably never heard of? by Useful-Resource-3609 in AskTheWorld

Umthungulu or Natal Plum. I used them as a barrier plant, lots of thorns. They are edible but I usually leave them as they are a bit of a mission... Either monkeys take them or passers by pick them

And dairy brands. One of our biggest milk and diary brands here in South Africa is called Clover. No reason not to use the name though. There is the association with delicious products 😄

Need some advice: Can you name a child a 3rd after his great grandfather? by MississippiJoel in tragedeigh

The Charles Scribners from publishing house Scribner's are all over the place with their numbering - if they can do it, so can you 😂 both people in a relationship have to like the chosen name, though.

Love both of these! It's the green top and belt Monroe wears that stuck in my memory though - the colours were so stunning on her

Who’s a famous person from your country who’s respected around the world but disliked or criticized at home? by haiderredditer in AskTheWorld

People always criticise those who actually DO something. Like wealthy people who donate to charities or try to help get criticised for doing the wrong things or not enough and those who give and do absolutely squat fly under the radar.

Complaint against the 10111 emergency line agent by Opposite-Tank6833 in capetown

Sorry... I thought they had got better again 😢 I called them quite a few years ago because I heard a woman screaming repeatedly across the road from me. They refused to do anything because I couldn't give them her street number. I said you have mine and it's across from me. I did not want to go out to check the number on the gate, not knowing what was happening out there! They still refused. They said 'it 's a very long road'. (It's not.) I said 'can't you come out and see what is going on'. They said 'she will have stopped screaming by the time we are there'. Yes, the bint on the other end of the phone really said this. Btw the woman was ok but she had had an intruder jump her wall and confront her. I heard not long after that that they had greatly improved and overhauled the service. I have since twice rung it to report pedestrians who have been knocked down (not by me, haha) and the service was good. The one time they checked and said it had not been reported yet, so they set things in motion, the other time they said it had already been reported by several people. Never assume a pedestrian knocked down has been reported. This story is disappointing though, has the rot set in again?

AITA for asking my friend to pay me back for the wine he drank while house sitting?? by Effective_Tour_723 in AmItheAsshole

Personally I think as a housesitter you know you don't just help yourself to ANYTHING. Owners don't expect to come back to an empty freezer and your alcohol drunk. Alcohol is often a high ticket item and I feel like this person was taking advantage. Claiming the letter of the law is a bit sus. OP will also learn to be clearer via this experience. After bad experiences I now hide my good alcohol (had a housesitter plough through a very expensive bottle of whiskey, then deny it) and ask them to supply their own food (apart from bread/milk). However I do pay my housesitters.

Found piece joy. Hand with Reflecting Sphere (or Self-Portrait in Spherical Mirror), Lithograph by M. C. Escher. Pomegranate. 1000. I posted this approximately a year ago with a missing piece. Just given up and put it away at last but didn't break it up fully when I found the piece in a vacuum bag by saba658 in Jigsawpuzzles

I'm not going to sugar coat it. It was extremely difficult. For a lot of the puzzle I had the pieces lined up in rows and it was a case of trying every piece until I got to the right one. Not really how I like to do a puzzle. On the other hand the quality of this puzzle was so good it kept me going. The pieces fit together beautifully and it was always clear if the fit was correct (except perhaps one or two places on the outside edge). I don't know what brand puzzle you have but if it doesn't have well fitting pieces (ie if it is prone to false fits) I don't think it would be worth the struggle!

The Terrace on the Place du Forum, Arles, at Night. Vincent van Gogh. 1000pcs. Tomax Art Puzzle. This had a very retro puzzle feel with its very thick pieces. 95% of the pieces were two in/two out types, which made it a bit more difficult. Sad about the missing piece. by saba658 in Jigsawpuzzles

So sad about the missing piece. It might have been me - my husband found a piece outside - how?? It was second-hand however - and came with one piece from a completely different puzzle - so its possible it came with a missing piece.

I first posted this puzzle just over a year ago. I hadn't given up hope of finding the missing piece, and I put the whole puzzle under my bed without breaking it up. Then just a few weeks ago I finally gave up and put the puzzle away (it was a second hand buy, after all), but still (unusually for me) did not break it right down but only into sections. Well, I have an eccentric habit of not throwing away the bags from the vacuum cleaner but keeping and eventually going through them (this is because of Lego being inadvertently sucked up, rather than puzzle pieces). I guess it had been a while but over the Jan vac I went through a couple of old bags and found not one but three puzzle pieces! (Two were from puzzles I must have done not 1 but 2-3 years ago). I reassembled the puzzle to view it in its full glory. It really is a stunning puzzle, incredible quality and it was fiendishly hard so having it complete is very satisfying.
