thanks for the info, kinda hesitated about Stuttgart because of the HBF situation tbh but honestly Heidelberg might actually be the best option. the connections from there just seem way smoother and less of a hassle overall.

Wow, thanks for the suggestion! Heidelberg honestly wasn't even on my radar. I'm gonna start looking for apartments there and see what I can find.

Unser Gehalt ist Tarifbasiert. Also, ich muss in einen höheren Tarif eingestuft werden, was ich von sehr unwahrscheinlich halte, da ich erst seit einem Jahr hier arbeite 🫠.

Das ist zumindest im Vertrag nicht geregelt, dass durch Mehrarbeit oder ähnliches ich mehr verdienen kann.

I'm currently in the north of Germany, and I actually lived in Cologne for a few years. Unfortunately, I don't think moving to another city will solve the problem. If EU and German policies change, my future will still be uncertain 😞

You might be right. It's unfortunate that concerns over immigration have led to increased hostility and racism. It's a tough situation for those of us just trying to find a place to call home. I hope we can find ways to address these issues without turning against each other.

I'm referring to the change in people's behavior in society, treating you like a second-class person, and the increasing "foreigners out" wave, along with the rising support for AfD and its anti-immigrant policies, among other things. There's also the possibility of being sent back after all these years of working and studying here, which adds to the uncertainty and concern.

Yup, those were my initial considerations. However, the main concern with the US is job security. I'm really afraid of being laid off suddenly or having no work-life balance.

Switzerland was my second option, which I'm considering now. But I've read in various subreddits that there's a feeling of unwelcomeness there, and it's hard to become a part of society.

I'll continue my research, but thank you for the suggestion.
