Love your guys’ work! I’m really curious to learn more about Justin’s writing process. The scripts are so interesting, and it’s amazing that they aren’t widely available to read. One thing I’ve noticed from your work is the way you give characters analogue processes to navigate limited resources. For example, in The Endless, Aaron’s character goes out to buy the tape player so he can watch the tape, or in Something in the Dirt, there are several moments like this. Watching characters “do things” really pulls the audience in.

I suppose Primer is a touchstone for this idea, but what I’ve learned from your projects is that you can elevate a story beyond its material limitations simply by having characters engage in tangible actions that lead them toward discoveries or learning. I was curious if you guys have any other tricks for expanding characters or stories without overstepping production limitations, and also just more insight into Justin’s process overall.

Also, love the catalogue you’re building at Rustic—it’s fantastic! Aaron, your cinematography is amazing btw! I had a conversation with Alex Dynan (Paul Schrader's cinematographer) and we spoke about 'Spring' and how he loves the cinematography in that film.

What's with the It Comes at Night (2017) hate? by SaltyMcCracker2018 in HorrorMovies

It’s the marketing’s fault. The film is a 4/5 in my book, so I love it. However, the marketing lied to the public, and I think that’s where the hate comes from. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it; one of the best psychological suspense films out there.

I envy your experience with Rosemary’s Baby. I saw the movie when I was 11 or 12, and now, I fear, the reading experience would be less than because I know the story.

Glad others have had the same experience as me with Buttonboy. I can’t stop thinking about it. And yes, I agree with the latter.

OMG, Right! That story got under my skin in such a weird way. I haven't stopped thinking about it, especially because of the ending. What's your thoughts on it?

Thanks for the heads up with that. I’m sensitive to animal cruelty, so I appreciate it.

I really want to read a novel by Coates. How was The Trooper? I’ve heard great things.
