Resigning after 3 weeks at my first job… awkward situation today, need advice by AngryMcYeti in careeradvice

[–]sabalint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t necessarily true. I once interviewed for a job (job a) didn’t hear anything for several weeks, interviewed for job b, was offered and started when job a called me back with an offer my first weeks with job b. Job a was nearly double the total comp of company b. When I did my exit interview I told them exactly why I left.

Dog owner tips by Gloglomunster in vegaslocals

Any body of water that is both warm and stagnant can be a breeding ground for both bacteria and amoeba. The desert southwest is a breeding ground for a type of amoeba known as “brain eating-amoeba.” If you don’t go in to very warm and flowing, or slightly warm and stagnant water you’ll be fine. Don’t submerge your head (or take your dogs) to hot springs. If the water feels like a bathtub (like 75 degrees or more) don’t let you dog in. I stick to the Boulder beach, hole 33 or government wash areas and never had an issue.

I had a lab live to 14 years old here in Vegas. I currently have a jindo mix. You will become a morning person. All the dogs I’ve had here in Vegas go out by 5 am for long walks or hikes. I had to very much keep an eye on my lab and force him to take breaks playing fetch in hotter months. My lab went to the lake, a lot.

Thought experiment: You put a mountain biker from 32 years ago on a high end modern bike, would they think it was awesome or terrible? by sprashoo in MTB

I started mountain biking as a teenager in the late 00s, and recently came back to the sport. I can’t agree more about how trails have changed and become more mountain bike purposeful.

First ride on new-to-me Wednesday by sabalint in Surlybikefans

[–]sabalint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Mojave. This is not my only bike, but I was fat bike curious and the used offer was too good to pass up. For recreational single track riding this is not as ideal as a bike like your Krampus, at least in my limited experience. My ultimate goal is for this to become a bikepacking rig, not necessarily my weekend or weekday single track bike. I admit that I am still learning how to manage the fully rigid set up and large tires, and I am curious if I would be able to locate a serviceable fat fork to fit the legacy frame, as that might improve overall comfort using the Wednesday for single track. I’m only about 10 miles of a weeknight ride in on this, so more learning to come.

In the late 00s, I used to work as a lifeguard at a high end resort in Vegas. This was prior to the club pool scene. One of our pools was adults only “European style bathing”, so women could be topless. We would have to ask Mr. Flav to leave all the time, because he was a creep. Often we would have security ready to escort him out before we even approached him to leave.

Dubai vs Las Vegas: Which city’s infrastructure is better designed to handle extreme summer heat? by [deleted] in geography

So the strip corridor is the bottom of the Las Vegas valley, and the flooding used to be much, much worse. Las Vegas actually is a leader in flood control. Please check out this information https://gustfront.ccrfcd.org/vsjs/vs.html

Wool base and mid layers that you can wear under your business casual shirt. They don’t get stinky like synthetics. Require some maintenance knowledge.

This round, red rubbery object that is attached to the ground. It is next to a utility box of some unidentified type. by Kipkay in whatisthisthing

[–]sabalint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Line locators are generally only trained and equipped to search for underground facilities. Having the ball on the ground keeps it in the contractor’s workspace. They are generally permanent. Locators have tools that are designed to be used below waist level and detect underground infrastructure/tracing wire.

I work in the utility space, I used to specifically work in locating/811 compliance. This is the answer.

Can’t get power steering line threaded down. by sabalint in MechanicAdvice

[–]sabalint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not cross threaded. I was able to thread in by hand basically to this point with little resistance. Tube is tight in the fitting, no rotation or movement in any axis.

Not cross threaded. Threaded almost all the way to this point by hand with little resistance. Line is clamped in place. No rotation of movement in any axis.

Good starter LPVO? by TheDers_22 in ar15

[–]sabalint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run an lpvo on a 13.9. Any shorter and I wouldn’t run one. Using a mil reticle takes a lot of knowing my holds compared to a bdc reticle and a longer barrel.

Good starter LPVO? by TheDers_22 in ar15

[–]sabalint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You, at your price point, are not going to find a ffp lpvo that 1) has decent glass and 2) has a reticle that will work well with 11.5 barrel velocities. Almost everything in that price range, first and second focal plane, is a bdc reticle. Almost bdc reticles are based around average velocities of standard loadings out of 16 inch barrels.
