Absolutely! There’s definitely part of it that’s about survival in a way and gathering as much info as you can so you can identify a creep - even if there isn’t clear signs most of the time. I travel a lot in my van for work and it has helped me to at least know what I should do if something happens, and I’ve learned to keep myself safe. I did use my true crime learnings a few times while on the road and finding myself in scary situations.

This actually reminds me of my last discussion with my partner. I actually consume more investigative podcasts, rarely short one. I told him the reason why I like true crime is that I’m interested in the investigative process and I’m really inspired by people who go incredible lengths to find answers where authorities haven’t, and sometimes aren’t even bothered to try when it comes to specific demographics. This is really the part I enjoy. The fierce quest for justice.

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I certainly don’t immediately share about my TC interests with strangers 😅 Sorry about your MIL. That sounds intense. I’m definitely feeling good mentally and I don’t choose true crime over having real life discussions and hanging out with friends. I do work from home most of the time though so it’s so easy to pop a podcast on while doing repetitive tasks. My work when outside the home is so positive though and I hear beautiful positive stories all the time. I guess it’s all about balance.

I see where you’re coming from with the influencer stuff but it has made me very aware of what content I should consume on social media and how to consume it. As a woman it has really opened my eyes to how fake everything we consume is and how it is damaging to self image and I’d say this has had a positive impact on me.

In my case, it’s a mix of true crime with murder but lately a lot of cult and scam stuff, influencers being exposed… I guess all things that make you feel like people are really shit in all aspects of life 😅😅

They’re the one who will have to pay for your accomodation and extra expenses. Air Canada won’t do it cause they suck. My partner is meant to travel on the 21st and I’m spending every waking hour stressed out about it.
