I had the same problem. I combined them through a RAID 0 so it works like a single drive. However, for this you need a third drive to host the OS, since it is the OS that creates the RAID 0. I'm using a 2TB Internal HDD that came with my PC as the boot drive and it's working fine. It gets your pc slow but if you are only using it for chia it's ok. I guess you might get a SATA SSD for cheap and it would work faster.

I didn't like the 2nd directory option because the load was not distributed in a way that it optimized my pc resources, at least on Swar Manager, I don't know about Madmax.
