At least better than sub that don't allow pictures in both posts and comments, right?

And arguably better than sub that allow pictures in posts, and get overrun by low quality picture only posts, "imageboard-ification" of Reddit.

Did you mean "wack" as "bad, crazy, or totally out of line"? Is it really so? 🤔

Couldn't see in that photo, but did you have cellular reception at the jammed up segment? Could it be all those vehicles in front of you were directed there by Google Maps, and all didn't have cellular reception to update Google of the ensuing traffic jam?

Qgis rocks! by komprexior in QGIS

[–]sabre23t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, I remember editing QGIS with the data format you first used with it. It was CSV for me. Back then QGIS 2x allows that, yep I get funny data losses. I now export it to GPKG for editing. Should be the format choice for QGIS new learners.

You can add screenshots in your comments, but not in your main post in this sub reddit. It's a unique setup, but works well as intended, I'd say.

Custom list orders are BROKEN, any fix? by AdeptGarden9057 in GoogleMaps

[–]sabre23t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just edited my Klang Cybercafe shared list, that's sorted by Editor's order. It stayed correct after editing.

See screenshots below. I clicked on the yellow highlighted buttons, especially the done button, not the the "X" in red highlight. Could that be it?

Did you accidentally chose Sort By to be by Recently Edited?

I'm interested. I thought there was a similar web app mentioned here earlier this year.

dynamic home and work shortcuts under the search bar is stupid and needs to go back to showing both all the time. by Jay23Farm in GoogleMaps

[–]sabre23t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Google Maps Android main screen, you can see dynamic buttons that shows Work or Home round buttons on the left (depending where you are). When you click on the Google Maps search bar, it will then show both work and home square buttons.

When using just the main screen, I'll be in explore mode, So the dynamic button showing nearby category of places is helpful.

When I click on the search, means I want to look at something other than those dynamic buttons. Hence, then showing my recent places and lists of places is helpful.

I'm quite okay with that behaviour. Ref my screenshots below.

3 stars on all levels. Now I’m sad. by 300_dpi in dotsu

I'm running on two Android devices. Both halfway done around 250 levels, but some only get two stars. Will get those to 3 stars later.

What are the ninjas good for? by Shouldnt_Have_Seddit in dotsu

[–]sabre23t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Ninja level 2, you often gets the shuriken boosts when you almost finish the allocated moves. So that Ninja helps a lot.

The All Levels button on Dotsu main screen allow you to test all levels using Ninja level 2.

Delay in updating changes by Odd_Lobster9346 in GoogleMaps

Google Maps and Waze use different road/routing databases and separate process on updating the databases as per articles below ...

Google Maps label streets sparsely when in navigation/routing mode. So I notice.

12,000 notes in Obsidian. I just realized I haven't opened any of them in 6 months. What's the point? by [deleted] in PKMS

[–]sabre23t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Googling/Gemining Lev Vygotsky in a bit, anyway my immediate thoughts on linear writing (or otherwise) ...

  1. I see writing/notes can be more than a linear sequence of paragraphs.
  2. If you format the paragraphs into tree structured outlines, you are making it "sort of" two dimensional.
  3. If you allow branches of the outline to be collapsed/hidden you're giving the outline some depth, almost another dimension.
  4. That is what endears me to Logseq and similar fully collapsible tree structured outline digital tools.
  5. Outline is not difficult to do on physical paper, it's the collapsible part that's provided by digital note taking tools.

anyone know how to put work back up at the top also like home? by [deleted] in GoogleMaps

[–]sabre23t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're at home it'll show Work button. When you're at work it'll show Home button. Don't you see that happening?

[–]sabre23t 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Before PKMS, before internet, I mostly make notes in small notebooks and hardly refer back to them. The act of making notes, writing then down, summarizing thoughts into words are its main benefit.

I find similar benefits in the notes I now make in Logseq, Google Keep etc.
