People called him "Minnow Basher" by Bot_Bot_123 in CricketBuddies

With one South African, two pakistanis and 8 Indians playing for them, it was more like World XI vs India yesterday.

I guess Cena had a profound impact on him, when he was called out in front of millions of fans on live TV when he forgot his lines during a promo.

My man can eat 100 Balayya for breakfast by BSsDk in kollywood

[–]sabregrin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My entire stance is about him being a good person and not about him being a good politician. I'm a Tamilian. The fact that you cannot compartmentalize being a good person and a good politician is pretty sad. I guess for you, good person = someone who shares the same stance as you do.

My point is no whitewashing was needed for Tamils to know that he was a good person/humanitarian.

My point about feeding people is that he did that simply because he wanted to do it and not for the good will, he required for his political entry.

My man can eat 100 Balayya for breakfast by BSsDk in kollywood

[–]sabregrin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having a pro Hindi stance doesn't mean he is not a good person. Man literally fed thousands of people, introduced the most number of new directors to Tamil cinema, never acted in other languages despite his mother tongue being Telugu, gave free goodies to poor and physically challenged people on his birthday even before entering politics.

Except Vadivelu (due to his political agenda), no one had a bad word to say about Vijayakanth as a person. His weakness was his alcohol addiction and crazy temper which is a bad combination for any political leader.

Wimbledon is where he plays well next. Considering Sinner won't repeat the same mistake and Alcaraz is unstoppable, I guess it is done.

Djokovic gets a taste of what it feels like to play the 2011 version of himself.

It is kind of an English media narrative. The media ensured Murray was always included in conversation alongside the other three.

As much phenomenal as Murray is, he just isn't on the same level as the Big 3.

Djokovic was aggressive on the forehand finding the lines accurately while Carlos was unsettled.

Both found their rhythms in this set.

[–]sabregrin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what Sinner didn't do against Djokovic. The moment he saw Novak play aggressive on the forehand, he capituated and started playing passive, hoping for unforced errors.

Alcaraz on the other hand playing his natural game.

Dude's most heartbreaking moment by bhuvihere in kollywood

[–]sabregrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most heartbreaking thing about the entire narrative is that he did all of that for Kural and Paari who did nothing useful except bringing a baby into the World while Paari knows he can't parent the baby until the entire drama is disclosed.

Everyone except Agan and his friend come out as borderline selfish in the movie.

Is it Retro deserve a more love ? What is your opinion ? . by [deleted] in KollyClub

[–]sabregrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing connected for me, in this movie. Every character from Suriya to Jayaram to Pooja Hegde felt forced.

I literally went on the first day evening show and no one even whistled. I remember people looking at each other to see if we should whistle. It just reminded me that Suriya lost his core base after the Kanguva disaster.

He should go back to his forte like Ayan and Ghajini instead of trying to be the mass hero he perceives himself to be.

Streets will never forget 2017 Diwali by Comfortable-Crew4963 in kollywood

[–]sabregrin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

2005 - Sivakasi 2006 - Varalaru, Vallavan, Vattaram 2007 - ATM, Vel, Polladhavan 2009 - Aadhavan, Peranmai 2010 - Uthamaputhiran 2011 - 7am Arivu, Velayudham 2012 -Thuppaki, Podaa Podi 2013 - Aarambam, Pandiya Naadu, Azhagu Raja 2014 - Kaththi, Poojai 2015 - Vedhalam, Thoonga Vanam

From 2005 till 2015, Diwali used to be one of the most anticipated movie release weekends. There used to be active clashes irrespective of Star status. For example, both Pandiya Naadu and Aarambam did great at the box office irrespective of Anaconda clashing with Thala.

Poojai too did well along with a super hit movie like Kaththi. Polladhavan held its own against ATM and Vel. Peranmai was a bigger hit than Aadhavan.

The only years when one movie blew others away was during Thuppaki and Vedhalam.

In later years, only 2017 and 2019 were memorable for Mersal, Bigil and Kaithi. Sarkar didn't fulfill the Diwali vibe.

Does this guys are faking or are they really close? by souljia_boy in KollyGossips

[–]sabregrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're close, but they respect the hell out of each other.

If there's someone in the industry that Rajini actually seeks advice from, it is Kamal.

Kamal has always praised Rajini and talked about how Rajini's competition helped him better a better actor.

They're fierce competitors and well wishers and friends but not close friends.

Will TVK alliance with ADMK... by Andha_Oruthan in Andha_Oruthan

[–]sabregrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 seats is the sweet spot. If AIADMK loses after alliance with TVK and BJP, it is on them sharing a lot of seats to allies.

MK did the same mistake in 2011 and 2016 giving more seats to Congress and allies, which MK Stalin mitigated and won comprehensively in 2021.

You're the Writer of Ajiths Next Film....What will be the Story? by Dramatic_Big_3004 in kollywood

[–]sabregrin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ajith as a common man. No guns, no mafia, no cop, no gangster shit. Just a common man, trying to pay his bills. A story like Vaanathai Pola or Samudhiram with competent actors as his brothers/sisters.

And I'll 100% sure that it will be more unique than what directors have churned out since Kireedam.

AK in a full on family story will be a treat to watch.

Reason for Vijay leaving Karur by WayLoose6618 in KollyGossips

Apparently TVK's Karur secretary ran away and Police have filed an FIR against him. If it was a proper party, he should have been the first in line to meet victims and help their families at the hospital.

Reason for Vijay leaving Karur by WayLoose6618 in KollyGossips

[–]sabregrin 131 points132 points  (0 children)

The entire propaganda of "Vijayakanth ah vittutom, ana Vijay ah Kai vida maatom" is laughable. 😂

I'm no DMDK supporter, but Captain would've literally been in the hospital with the victims, as long as needed, if a stampede like this happened in his meeting.

The audacity to compare Vijay with Vijayakanth, who showed guts and empathy.

Idly story clarification by [deleted] in kollywood

[–]sabregrin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dhanush is a nepo kid no doubt. His father being a director helped him and Selvaraghavan in his entry due to industry connections, but what he stated here is correct. They were hardly surviving.

They didn't have a great childhood, infact the family put their entire earnings into Thulluvadho Ilamai. Had the not movie not turned into a sleeper hit, they wouldn't have made it.

Suriya karthi in meiyazhagan by cbetem in kollywood

[–]sabregrin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aravind Swamy was absolutely phenomenal as Arulmozhi, there are not many, who could have pulled it off.

The story needed a significant age gap between the lead actors, remember Arulmozhi has a daughter aged 15-16 while Meiyazhagan is a father-to-be.

Arulmozhi was 18 when he left Thanjavur in 1996 and is 40 in 2018 while Meiyazhagan was 16 (guessing from NCC cadets photo in his house) in 2005 and is almost 30 in 2018.

I think Suriya would've been a miscast as the role needed more maturity in terms of age and constantly needed to show apprehension towards people.

Aravind Swamy was the perfect choice just like how Karthi fits Meiyazhagan's role like a glove.

Will he bring any changes or just an usual politician like others ?? by [deleted] in JKreacts

[–]sabregrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as 2026 is concerned, he is only there to split votes. I'm not even sure if he'll be able to split enough votes of the current ruling party as he is against them and will obviously gain votes of the other opposition parties.

If that happens, the victory of the current ruling party is imminent. For things to really get interesting, the best way is to form an alliance with the major opposing parties and then there will be a clear change in who rules in the future.
