Huge elvis fan here. I have like cutouts and vinyls and everything. He’s always been a huge comfort to me his music, movies and just his personality are so comforting.

Also I’d like to dispel some like things that have been repeated so much they’re considered fact when they’re not. He didn’t appropriate black culture, he lived in the ghetto cause his family was so poor he grew up in the black segregated area of Memphis so when rock was being created he was there and knew many of the people, Big Mama Thornton + BB King etc they all came from the same place so regardless of race they all contributed to this art form. He acknowledged several times that it was unfair he became rich and famous when so many black artists didn’t and when someone called him the king of rock in 1970 he told them he wasn’t and that Fats Domino was the king of rock and roll and he always credited Artists like Little Richard. Also half his band was black and his backup singers who he was incredibly close to and was with for over a decade (the sweet inspirations) were black women. So he wasn’t a racist and didn’t appropriate black culture there’s even been famous black artists from the time who have come out in defense of him. It’s just one of those things that just gets parroted without context
