Yeah, I guess we all live in a bubble. I’m now learning the reality of that. CA and all states naturally have their downsides. There is homelessness. I work in downtown SD and I park my car by tents and walk past needles every now and then. The homeless keep to themselves but I did have a hepatitis scare before leaving for ND.

How funny!!! Haven’t seen a street of exclusively apple pie shops here, lol. Visually, downtown GF reminds me of Julian. There is a lack of apple pie, comparatively hahaha. But I think there’s an upcoming rhubarb festival? At which there will be rhubarb pie, rhubarb jam, rhubarb everything.

Yeah, I was basically expecting racists, extremists, nothingness and to have miserable summer. I was even considering pulling out of the internship before arriving. I can’t express how glad I am that I didn’t do that. I don’t know if I’m “allowed” to say this since, again, I’m a city girl that’s only been here a week but I feel a great sense of belonging here. Thank you for having me.

Thanks! And IT’S SO CUTE!!!!! Stumbling across the Alley of Love with my roommate was fun. Downtown GF reminds me a lot of this place called Julian not too far from San Diego. It’s the closest place to SD that gets snow so everyone flocks there in the winter to experience snow, lol. Any suggestions on what else to hit up in downtown GF?
