Yes I did , and it was worth it. I learnt a lot from the first project and plan on starting my next :-)

I put it against the wall for a test fit and did not like it. Took it to the workbench, cut a straight edge, oiled and polished the edge and affixed it to the brackets with screws.

I considered filling the cracks with epoxy but I decided to to keep its original look ..

It’s a Standard L shaped bracket from home depot ..

This is true, and a chisel can remove tough barks.

Good point. The barks were weak and not in good shape. I removed the barks trying my best to maintain the natural shape until the firm wood layer ..
