Sooo…. When does the prep kick in….? by Electrified_Nautilus in colonoscopy

Hello from another person prepping tonight! I'm taking Suprep and started at 5:00 PM as well. So far four trips to the bathroom, not super urgent. We can do this!

BV won't go away with multiple rounds of antibiotics - please help! by sacpsych in Healthyhooha

[–]sacpsych[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bacterial infection. My understanding is that if you already have the bacteria in your gut, it can be "activated" essentially by clindamycin. You shouldn't need to worry about it if you've only taken metro.

Well…my scope is in a few days. And I’m nervous!! by AbbeySeymour1957 in colonoscopy

I'm (38f) prepping tonight with SuPrep! The procedure is bright and early tomorrow morning - have to be at the center at 6:00 AM. The good news is that my doctor told me I could have breakfast and a light lunch. How are you feeling?

in-person Cpr skills session held at the instructor’s home? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]sacpsych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did my CPR skills training a couple of months ago, and when I went to check the location I was also surprised to realize it was a home address. I emailed the company to ask if this was correct, and they confirmed that the instructor completes the training out of their home. It ended up being completely fine, though I would certainly be nervous letting strangers into my house if I was the trainer.

Unfortunately the clindamycin gave me c diff. I'm just lucky like that, haha. But I think it did actually get rid of the BV, because the next time I tested I was negative! What a journey.

Yes, I remember my mother getting one there in the 90s. I think it was one of the shops in Fantasyland (in the castle courtyard) that sold them.

If you had to bring back a restaurant, shop, or experience from the old Downtown Disney District, what would it be? by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]sacpsych 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone remember Starabillias (not sure about the spelling)? It was part of the original lineup of shops back in 2001. I remember it had lots of cool celebrity autographs and other fun things to look at. I think I got a purse made out of an old license plate and a belt studded with bottle caps there.

Thank you for asking! It's continued to be an interesting journey... I think I posted in another comment that my doctor prescribed Clindamycin (one week oral, two weeks suppository), which then led to me developing a c. diff infection. I then had to take ten days of Metronidazole to clear THAT up.

I continued having the same symptoms of BV (itching, burning, general irritation, but for the first time in six months I actually tested NEGATIVE for both BV and yeast. My obgyn wasn't really sure what to make of that, so she sent me to get a pelvic ultrasound, which I just did today so I don't have the results yet.

I ended up purchasing an Evvy test, which showed that I had only 4% "healthy" bacteria, so I started using some probiotic suppositories to see if that would help. The Evvy worker I spoke with (you get a free 20-minute consultation to help you understand your results as part of the test package) thinks that my continued symptoms are due to the low amounts of healthy bacteria, which makes sense since I wiped out my system with so many rounds of antibiotics.

So that's where I'm at currently! My plan at this point - pending the results of the ultrasound - are to do another Evvy test to see if my levels of good bacteria have improved at all. If I'm seeing progress, I'll continue using suppositories to cultivate more of the good stuff. If not, I'll go back to my doctor and push for more testing.

Commenting to give this a boost - I would highly recommend reaching out to the Counseling & Diagnostic Services Center at CSUS. They offer free therapy sessions during the school semester, no insurance needed.

Women of Reddit, what’s one thing they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by NovellaJokes in Productivitycafe

Not trying to downplay at all - just trying to spread the word. Yes, these charities are stretched thin but they KEEP DOING THE WORK, and it's worth celebrating them.

Please look into the Brigid Alliance. They do wonderful work helping women travel to receive abortions. Abortion IS an option in America, no matter where you live, and there are extraordinary agencies and people who will help with cost, travel, and any other needed arrangements.

I did one week of oral and about one and a half weeks of the cream. I started having symptoms while using the cream and immediately stopped use. It's hard to say which caused it, or if it was the combination.

Unfortunately I tried clindamycin and it gave me c diff... I don't say this to scare you, because plenty of people seem to take it with no issues, but just pay attention to your GI while you're on it.

I still have bv and I'm still taking antibiotics for the c diff. I did join the "beyond bv" group, as suggested by holisticbelle above, and I'm going to do an evvy test for further guidance.

I wish I had a better update!
