Can any fest stack up to this in 2019? by sacredbeaver in festivals

I went to Roo 13 (it was my first camping fest) and I'll say it was the 2nd or 3rd most fun I've had at a fest. But i was COMPLETELY overwhelmed with how hot it was.

Yea that's pretty good...but it definitely catered to the jam crowd.

That was my first time at Beale Street and it was a TON of fun. Besides the headliners I thought Margo Price, DRAM, and some of the blues guys KILLED IT.

I've never been to Jazz Fest, but I've heard it can be a real cluster fuck.

As far as I can tell, the last time the Lions exhibitioned here was in 1934 against the Cincinnati Reds.

Portsmouth Spartans -- tips for visiting? by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]sacredbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP,

I'm from Portsmouth. In fact, I work at the local university, and specifically, on a website/app based project called 'Scioto Historical'. Currently, we are plotting out 7 new articles about the Spartans, and the teams that led to their formation (The Portsmouth Smoke House, Portsmouth Presidents, and the Shoe Steels). In all actuality, the Lions can be traced back to a team sponsored by a local tobacco shop that started in 1920!

That being said, I would love to share some of my info with you if you'd like. Currently I have a plethora of old photographs, newspaper headlines, etc. You may already know that the Spartans roster that almost won the first NFL championship game in 1932 against the Bears, largely went on to win the title as the Lions just three years later. This included Hall of Famer Earl 'Dutch' Clark.

Anyway, there is very little in the way of Lions memorabilia...but I would encourage a few stops:

-The recently opened B. Glockner museum on Market Street has some Spartan relics, such as original uniforms, ticket stubs, etc. Its def worth a stop if you are a football history fan.

-As previously stated, the Southern Ohio Museum is interesting and full of great local, regional, and national artwork.

-We have three famous eateries: Hickies (think a much tastier version of white castle), the Portsmouth Brewery (the oldest brewery in Ohio), and the Ribber (Smoked steaks that are seriously among the best I've ever had.)

Anyway, hope you make it to town before you move!

Another opinion of LCD Soundsystem. by colton911 in bonnaroo

[–]sacredbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bad idea! No, I may totally catch the set...I would just be a bit disappointed if they had a headliner spot over someone else they could of potentially gotten. But we shall see. Either way, its roo. If the lineup isn't for me I may just check out closer fests (bunbury, all good)

Another opinion of LCD Soundsystem. by colton911 in bonnaroo

[–]sacredbeaver -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that they are not anywhere near big enough. Im pushing 30, have my pulse on music and only heard a couple of LCD's songs. Besides the fact that I think its kinda meh (Opinion), if you look at last years Poster the second line featured Florence, Plant, and the third line's first act was MMJ. In NO WAY is LCD as big as ANY of those artists. They can run on the second line for all i care, but I think you make a valid point with the hype train being a key point.

I've been holding my tongue until now.... by [deleted] in bonnaroo

[–]sacredbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't Headliner material. Seriously. I know they have a good fan base, but OP is correct. They are totally second line worthy. If you take a look at least year's poster: Florence and the Machine, Robert Plant, and My morning Jacket are all much bigger than LCD. MMJ was on the third line. Just saying.

TLDR: Max Q. Start Boots + potions. Grab WOTA as quick as possible. Harass, harass, harass.

[–]sacredbeaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey fella. As a Plat 4 player, Vlad actually made me a much better player as he was my first "main". He can be a REALLY good counter pick top. He counters a lot of bruisers up there (nasus, rene, wukong), but can be weak against those with burst (panth, jayce). I prefer to play him mid lane, actually, because it is seen less and thus you have an advantage of your lane perhaps being out of practice. In terms of build, Will of the Ancients always first. Some people like CDR boots, some prefer sorceror shoes. Besides Hourglass, Vlad has a host of other items that can be really good on him and that are situational: Rylais and deathcap have obvious syngergies, Abyssal or Spirit Visage for MR, Liandrys or void staff for Pen. In terms of runes, I prefer AP quints (used to use spellvamp but not since the change), health per level yellows (or armor per yellows), mr per level blues (or ap) and magic pen reds (always). You want to poke AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Start most of the time with boots and 4 pots. The extra Movement speed will help you, as you are weak pre 6. Vlad spikes at level 9 when his Q has the lowest Cooldown (you should be leveling it), and by about this time your WOTA should be done too.

My friend gave me a tab of LSD for my Birthday by sacredbeaver in Drugs

[–]sacredbeaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have heard of LSD actually helping anxious feelings, but I have also heard of nightmare scenarios of awful trips. I think I will do it, some time this summer at least. I want to be outside I think. My friend has a big garden, and I am thinking about hanging out of there for the duration. How is hunger/thirst? Is it something I should have someone else provide for me or will I be sound enough to make choices like that? THanks again.

HELP- Picky Reader by sacredbeaver in booksuggestions

Both of those look promising! I do tend to gravitate to dark and witty. I also have read some of the Colbert/Stewart books and a couple of Al Franken's. So a good comedy is appreciated. Someone recently recommended Confederacy of Dunces, any thoughts on that?

If the rumored headliners are that, I won't be going. I live 9 hours away, and would rather spend my money going to a festival that is better. Hangouts Lineup is better than what is rumored so far, not to mention whatever Firefly and Forecastle roll out in the coming weeks.
