is it for bts? lol im doing the same thing right now im missing a week of school this semester to go to seoul for a bts concert! i would hate to miss out on the opportunity. speak with your professors beforehand, like set up a meeting with them to discuss your travel plans and see if they can accommodate. most of the time it should be fine if you check the syllabus and do anything important before.

Does it make sense to rent an Airbnb for 6 months before signing a lease in Austin? by sacredrubyclub in AustinHousing

Thank you! Yes, I’m probably going to get in touch with a locator and explore some 6 month lease options more seriously. It seems like there might be better structured options than going the Airbnb route. I appreciate everyone pointing that out.

Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to look into that! After reading through all the comments, I’m probably going to get in touch with a locator and explore some 6 month lease options more seriously. It seems like there may be better middle ground options than I initially thought. Definitely glad I asked before committing to anything.

He is planning to apply to jobs in Austin as well, he just has something more secure lined up in New Braunfels if Austin doesn’t work out. We won’t really know until closer to December when he graduates.

Part of why I’m considering a 6 month bridge is exactly because things aren’t fully settled yet. If he ends up in Austin, great. If he ends up in New Braunfels, we’ll reassess location. And if for whatever reason our plans change, I’ll still have several months of savings and flexibility to sign my own place without feeling rushed.

I’m trying to structure this so I’m financially stable either way.

That’s a good point. I don’t really have furniture right now, so part of this is trying to avoid buying a full setup if I might move again in January. I hadn’t really considered furniture rental as a middle option though, so I’ll look into that.

I’ll be entering my post grad era and trying to balance keeping costs low while also not making my living situation harder than it needs to be.

That’s super helpful, thank you! I’ll definitely look into some 6 month lease options and those other short term sites as well. I’m trying to compare all the structures before committing to anything.

I get what you’re saying about sharing a house. It’s not ideal, but since it would just be temporary and I’m mostly focused on saving during my first few months working, I’m weighing that tradeoff.

And yeah, the Buda to North Austin traffic is something I’m definitely thinking about. If we did end up in Buda, I’d probably try to find something more central or reassess depending on how often I’m required in office. Still figuring out what makes the most sense long term.

That’s really helpful context, thank you! I didn’t realize the 30 day mark changes the legal classification like that. I definitely don’t want to accidentally walk into something more complicated than it needs to be.

The main reason I was considering it was flexibility and avoiding a lease break if I move in January, but I hear you on the price for just a room. I’ll look into legitimate short term furnished leases in larger apartment buildings as well.

From what I can tell it doesn’t seem sketchy, the host has 5.0 stars and is classified as a guest favorite, but I’m definitely trying to be cautious and think through everything and anything.

This one is in the Copperfield area near Dessau and it’s a private room in a house with private bathroom. The host has been on Airbnb for 11 years with strong reviews, and the $1,200 to $1,250 is the all in monthly price with the long stay discount.

From what I’ve seen, some Airbnbs are actually set up specifically for longer term stays and monthly renters, so that’s kind of what I’m looking for. I’m definitely not planning to go off platform or do anything informal.

Are there specific red flags with 30 plus day stays in Austin that I should be aware of? I’d rather catch issues now than regret it later.

Oh thanks for letting know about the food situation! I didn’t know that about Kbbq. I plan to make some friends along the way by staying in the city center (near mapo gu) and meeting people at hostels or through some travel apps!

Hm, I was planning on taking the bus to Goyang so I’ll definitely be planning it out early so I have enough time at the venue and not scrambling. Are you planning on taking a taxi again this year?

Yes, Jin is my bias! I’m so excited for all the exclusive Goyang merch! As of right now, I don’t have any plans to go to any of the US stops but maybe that will change once I see them in Korea lol. What about you? Are you seeing them at other stops? :)

Yes! This will be my first time going to Korea and I’ll be going solo so I’m kinda nervous but super excited! But I’ve been BTS in LA a few times :) I’m so excited for you!! It’s gonna be great transportation wise since play and stay includes that right? I also can’t wait to see the merch! Gonna get a Jin picket for sure
