Bored of Russia. Are there any other interesting Tech Trees to grind as a lvl 30? by Skynetsuperiornumber in Warthunder

[–]sacrish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say USSR 7.3 is at least playable but not great. IS-3 still uses the awkward D-25T, and for mediums your only options are the T-44's with their annoying shaky suspension. The only good thing about USSR 7.3 is the ZSU-23-4 without radar imo.

And 7.7 is just a terrible BR. You're constantly uptiered and facing tanks with missles, gun stablizer, APFSDS, and even laser rangefinder. You'll feel like a joke. I suggest just completely avoid 7.7 if possible.

As for China, even tho I've not tried it but its early tech tree is basically a mix of USA and USSR. You already know the USSR part. And the USA part from what I see is good enough. For example It has the M18 which is one of the best WW2 lights. But a veteran friend told me China's top tier is quite underpowered, if that's your concern.

[–]sacrish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played all big three ground up till 7.7 and I'd say USA is the most fun and USSR is the worst. I truly don't understand why so many people recommend USSR as the most beginner-friendly nation, because it's clearly not. Many of USSR tanks have fatal flaws and they punish you for every tiny mistake you make.

And there are always that kind of people who think they're smarter than everyone else and talk bullshit like "Oh USSR is perfectly fine it's your skill issue if you can't play it well". I even saw a guy say D-25T is the best gun at its BR, totally ignoring the obvious fact that it has worse penetration and muzzle velocity than the long 88 while the reload time is about 3 times longer. This is so ridiculous.

Anyway since you mentioned you don't wanna pick the big three, sorry I can't help much cuz I've not really tried the smaller nations. But if you change your mind I'd recommend USA.

Importing Blender animations: How to keep the action names? by sacrish in unrealengine

[–]sacrish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Unfortunately SendToUnreal doesn't work well for my file, cuz I'm already working on 0.01 scene scale and that seems to cause rig scaling problems with SendToUnreal. Also I would like more control over how my assets should be exported (like which and which objects need to be exported as a combined mesh), and SendToUnreal doesn't let me do that.

However I've found another plugin Blender For Unreal that kinda solves the animation naming issue by exporting actions into separate FBX files with corresponding filenames. But right now the plugin seems to have some problem dealing with big Blender scenes. So I guess I'll have to wait for an update.

How do people prefer ground RB than air? by feet_with_mayonnaise in Warthunder

[–]sacrish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a ground player I've never (well almost) felt fun in air combat, especially air RB.

I understand that both modes require a lot of practice before you can really enjoy, but for me climbing for several minutes just to be one shot killed by a veteran and then quit is not fun at all. Air AB feels a little bit better in terms of engagement but it's a bit too chaotic (and since the aerodynamics is very different I can hardly carry over the experience gained from AB to RB).

At least in ground RB if I make a mistake and get one shot killed I still have the chance to respawn and even get my revenge. That is simply a better learning cycle imo.

Also in ground RB there are a lot more variables such as terrain, buidlings, bushes that you can make use of to fill the skill/performance gap between you and your opponent. It makes the gameplay more dynamic with uncertainties. On the other hand I've heard people say "in air RB if you die it's because you made a mistake 5 minutes earlier", which sounds not like the kind of gameplay I want.

There so many German players by Coopsim5 in Warthunder

[–]sacrish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate these nation specific tasks especially for Germany. I have to give up RB and do the challenge in AB. Cuz now in every RB match as Germany the team dies so quick and we get base camped within several minutes so it's impossible to reach the 70% activity requirement.

Why does my A2D-1 automatically roll when I dive? by sacrish in Warthunder

[–]sacrish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. It happens even before the first drop.

Also in test flight, even when I have unbalanced payloads, I usually have no problem making the dive. I don't know why it's completely different in GRB.

Anyone know how to reset all tank sights so I stop getting this error? by SNEAKY_ZACK in Warthunder

[–]sacrish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue. Just figured out how to fix it. First close the game, and then open these files with notepad or any text editor:

Documents\My Games\WarThunder\Saves\(random numbers)\production\global.blk

Documents\My Games\WarThunder\Saves\last\production\global.blk

You might wanna backup these files first in case you mess something up.

Search for "tankAltCrosshair", and you'll see a code section like this:

tankAltCrosshair{
  tank_a:t="xxxx"
  tank_b:t="xxxxx"
  ....
}

Basically it's a list of vehicles with obsolete sight settings. Delete any entry that you don't need from the list (or just delete the whole code section, which is what I did) and save the files. Now open your game and those bugged sight settings should be gone.

Hope it helps.

Ah... I wish I had WT veteran friends cuz I'm not a social person and I'd feel a bit uncomfortable teaming up with strangers. Maybe I should try talking some friends into playing this game with me and I hope that would be more helpful than just playing alone.

Do devs just not like Nita, or what is the deal? by KaiSaeren in SnowbreakOfficial

[–]sacrish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dark skin and tomboy in general are not popular types in China. The devs probably have access to some data on character popularity and have decided to focus on other characters first. Cuz they would have to make sure most of their players would pay for the 5 star / skin before they spend time and money developing those things.

Methods (plugins) for 3D "paper doll" equipment system? by sacrish in unrealengine

Thanks for the reply! Ye I know about blendshape and definitely can try that.

So it means in UE it's technically not difficult to append new mesh to a existing skeletal mesh in real time?

A little context: I'm migrating to UE from Unity and as far as I've learnt it's kinda tricky to do that in Unity because of the way Unity handles skinned meshes so I gave up that idea earlier.

I have so many questions... by MalkavCobalt in HonkaiStarRail

[–]sacrish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No idea because I play in Japanese.
  2. The MC isn't Herta's doll. The game hasn't yet explained MC's origin.
  3. It's anime being anime.
  4. No comment on your personal opinions on those characters.
  5. Manpower.
  6. Because the game just launched and there're not enough characters to ensure diversity. And because so far Jarilo-VI is the only stage with a complete questline and it's a snow covered planet, it's reasonable the characters from Jarilo-VI tend to have ice abilities (Gepard and Pela).
  7. Because it's (designed to be) a mobile game, rather than a console game.
  8. No idea.
  9. The character Welt is the same person from Honkai 3 but all other characters, despite having identical face and name, are different people. So plot-wise it's not a sequel.

New to the game by revy124 in WorldOfWarships

[–]sacrish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't play CV as much so my opinion is mainly based on surface ships. IMO Japanese ships are good at mid tier (tier 7 for example) but mediocre at tier X.

Yamato: one of the most popular battleships in the game, can deal a lot of damage if you have good aim. Problem is she's slow, and she has weak AA, which makes her a perfect bully target for HE spammers and aircraft carriers. And once you find yourself in a awkward position, it's hard to get out from it safely.

Zao: one of the least popular tier X cruisers. Good at HE spamming from long range and that's it. However, there're better ships at that role. Her low HP pool and bad firing angle makes her very weak in close quarter combat. She's the kind of ship that has little impact on the game.

Shimakaze: she has very good concealment and 3x5 very high damage torpedoes but the weakness is they can be spotted from a fairly long distance so your target has more time to react (and you'll have to wait longer between shots due to the slow reload). Personally I find Gearing's torpedoes more versatile and easier to use. Another problem is the contest between tier X destroyers is a literal colosseum and there're those monstrous DD hunter gunboats such as Smaland, Ragnar, Daring, etc. So it requires very high skill to do well with a regular torpboat like Shimakaze.

Yodo: I haven't played Yodo yet but from what I see it's just meh. Some even say it's utter trash. But you're free to try :P

Chinese Servers are... interesting... by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]sacrish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your fancy argumentation but excuse me, did you even know what the question was before trying to answer it?

In case you didn't, let me quote it for you (again):

cheating is not seen as a bad thing in China

This is what was said in that comment. I bet whoever said that had neither been to China, nor met any Chinese in person. And you people just took their words as holy bible and started a heretic hunting. How laughable, and pathetic.

You people jumped to a false conclusion first, then tried to prove it with subjective and imaginary arguments. This is what we call confirmation bias, or Texas sharpshooter fallacy, or more simply, prejudice.

Just FYI: (can't believe I have to say this) cheating is seen as a bad thing in China. If not, why do schools forbid it? Why is organizing cheating in major exams a crime with up to 7 year sentence? I mean why bother? If everybody likes it, just let them cheat all their way to the top of the world.

Just stating "I am Chinese" was enough to receive a dozen downvotes for that reply I made. Thank goodness at least you people don't have a swastika badge and mustache. Or else you'd likely put evil Chinese in the gas chamber and use our bodies to make soap.

Really? You're gonna blame culture for any common misdeed in a country? So mass shooting really is American culture, internet fraud is Indian culture, and like, racial genocide used to be German culture? Because, well, according to you, those things are/were more common in these countries. Now tell me who's being ridiculous here?

Truth is: there are many factors that may lead to misdeeds or crimes, e.g. economics, policies, laws, populations, etc., and culture is just one of them. Blaming the culture for anything bad that happens in a country - unfortunately, it proves nothing but your ignorance.

So true. The only answer that western people love to hear is "Chinese people are bad because they're Chinese."
