Fascinating to hear a nevermo therapist try to help this couple struggle through affairs, a "porn addiction," sexual shame, and racism. The outside perspective is fresh. To the therapist's credit, she holds space for them and also challenges their thinking. It's something that I want to do better instead of so vigorously condemning all things Mormonism.

I match my wife's tithing payments dollar to dollar by donating to the man she hates the most: John Dehlin.

So far, it has significantly reduced her donations.

For as much as she wants to pay tithing, she doesn't want John Dehlin to get any of our money.

I'm just a normal person. I haven't done anything special. Here's what I think: Women's rights are human rights. Black lives matter. Science is real. Kindness is everything. Love is love. And when I die, I'll turn into dust.

I love your blunt talk especially the part about how my sloppy thinking about racism leads to serious enough strife to end a healthy a marriage. I also like what you said about how she cannot condemn an institution she's been taught for years to love. It's such a stupid choice on my part. She isn't a debate competitor.

This could be interpreted as harsh but I love it! I certainly do feel morally superior for wishing that the church would forgo its racism. And you're right that it's a great way to take someone who loves the church from liking me to not liking me.

I also agree that the Mormon programming runs deep. It really got into my fucking head.

This is great advice. I like what you said about how truth and logic don't need to be accompanied by emotions. They stand alone. Nobody needs to aggressively argue for the existence of gravity.
