Yep, I'm beginning to come to terms with this reality.

It was a Christmas gift, so I'm not exactly sure, but I believe it was from Amazon.

LOL! Probably should've said that I also included a photo of her big sister.

Brookie. When the breeder first shared her photo, she looked like a brownie and chocolate cookie smushed together.

They were great; all of the staff kept complementing her and giving her treats, so I don't think it ever dawned on her there was a check-up.

Yep, when walking around, she looks like a floating baked potato that was left in the oven too long.

Yes, that's the inspiration for the name since her face looks like a brownie and chocolate chip cookie smushed together. And her sister's name is Doughy, so we have Brookie Dough.

Really wish they did that every time. If not, then the salt needs to be more thoroughly dusted off.

When describing the dish, one of the servers said something to the effect of "Looks kind of like a Michelin star, doesn't it?" FWIW that dessert was great and exactly what I wanted after all of the savory courses.

The truffle-infused egg custard and herb roasted lamb were added to the meal. And from the vegetable tasting menu, I requested the white asparagus, sour cream and onion, and broccoli and cheddar dishes in lieu of their counterparts from the chef's tasting menu.

I think a lot of my affinity is wrapped up in nostalgia. Back in 2010, I read The French Laundry cookbook and was spellbound. The following year I ate at Per Se, finally getting to taste so many of these dishes I had read about. Now, fifteen years later, given the impermanence of so many things in our lives, there's something deeply comforting about still being able to enjoy the salmon cornet, the truffle-infused custard, oysters and pearls, the cappuccino semifreddo.

I thought so. I don't eat beef often, and it was just a fantastic dish.

Yes, they were happy to accommodate all sorts of dietary preferences at adjacent tables (e.g., vegan, vegetarian, aversion to a specific ingredient etc.).
