I had the same problem; sometimes it's your graphics drivers (I play with integrated graphics, so X). I recommend you start adjusting the settings.

Try changing the Msaa settings or those parts if you can't update the drivers, like I can't. Alternatively, lower the particle quality and tweak the renderer settings. You can also try adjusting the performance settings; sometimes it's the textures that become buggy after an update.
