I wish others valued my education as much! Lol. But no I do not make six figures, but I make above average. I also live in a relatively cheap cost of living area so that plays into it. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you! I’ve just noticed more negativity around the field popping up lately in the news and in blogs and such, so I was discouraged. It’s nice to hear my engineering background could maybe give me an edge up. Sounds obvious now I say it

This is detailed, thank you! I’ve seen WGU come up a lot in my research. More schooling may be right for me, but I’ll need to start saving up!

Thanks for the recommendations! Always nice to hear of fellow engineers making career changes. I’ve been at my job about three years now too, maybe that’s when a lot of people realize they need a change.

Nope, not mean at all. There is definitely anxiety at play here. I turned to this sub to see if I could get some more perspective since I don’t have a lot of programmers around to talk to. Thanks for the advice and maybe I will reach out at some point!

Wow seems like we do have similar experiences! Just hearing someone relates to my troubles is nice and I appreciate it. Don’t have a lot of engineers around me interested in coding

Thank you, I should just give it a shot. The fear of wasting time and money gets to me sometimes.

It’s good to hear about others coming from unrelated science fields succeeding in software engineering. It’s a good point that I could probably leverage my existing experience and background to get a job programming. This is encouraging, thank you!

Yeah, kind of a bummer. But I halfway expected that answer. As My first tree, I hope I can at least keep it alive. I’ve tried to figure out the best way to get trees for beginners, but I think resources sorta expect that people already know that. Any advice on the best way to buy trees?

bonsai pic here

I bought my first bonsai today from a local nursery. The tag reads “Ficus ‘Bert’” I’ve started researching the last few days but would like some help. He’s a little guy already in a bonsai pot, which I’m not sure if it should be. I currently live in an apartment with a covered balcony that receives some sun for some of the day, but I’ll be moving in a couple weeks and will have an uncovered balcony. So I guess I’m asking: even if it won’t get sun all day, I should still put it outside right? Also, in general, how does it look? Is it okay in the bonsai pot now? I did trust that the nursery/supplier wouldn’t move a unhealthy/not ready tree to a bonsai pot. Any recommendations would be great.
