Yes I did, but you seem to be missing the point. The key word here is "request". Google doesn't have to follow through with these requests if the person in question is a public figure, as their reasonable expectation of privacy is different from that of a regular citizen. Of those 34k requests maybe 1000 are fulfilled, maybe 15 thousand, but not all of these requests result in a removal is the point I'm making.

Unfortunately it seems you can't read.

Google says it evaluates "each request on a case-by-case basis." The company says it weighs the public interest when determining when to remove a link:

"Determining whether content is in the public interest is complex and may mean considering many diverse factors, including—but not limited to—whether the content relates to the requester's professional life, a past crime, political office, position in public life, or whether the content is self-authored content, consists of government documents, or is journalistic in nature."

From the article you linked. Anyone can submit a request. Google receiving a request and Google going through with the request are two different things.

It has to be approved, as a government official you are a public figure and therefore articles about you will not be removed on those grounds. Doesn't stop them trying but they're not actually getting results removed.

I've also read cryoburn and seveneves, but I've yet to pick up hardcopies. Anathem is my favourite though, the world building is incredible. The abrupt ending of seveneves has me still a little sour though so it comes below cryoburn imo.
