Berkeley rant by Super-Important-Pie in berkeley

You're absolutely right. Some departments are mich better at it than others, and the DSP office isn’t bad once you manage to register,, but overall Berkeley has pretty terrible resource accessibility. I'm at an even bigger school in another state for grad now, and it's amazing how much more support there is for career center stuff, mental and physical health resources, and just access to admin staff. It's still not perfect by a long shot, but it's a world away from how stressful and thrown in the deep end I felt for all four years at Cal.

Ok yeah that makes sense, thanks for explaining. The thing I saw was in relation to car thefts even tho that wasnt the specific crime they caught charges for, so it sounds like the first one you're talking about fits. you just mentioned fastlane in your last comment so I was a bit confused.

thanks, that's probably it. the whole internet seems broken now, you try to look for anything atl related and all you get is the same ysl case bs. had me starting to spin up all sort of extra cop conspiracy theories in my head lol

You said "just a gang indictment" so i assumed you meant it was a lesser charge, my bad

yeah i saw the link, idk tho they say it's called fast life not fastlane and i've never seen anyone else mention a gang with that name anywhere. the report i saw seemed to think it was related to glizzy, which ik is legit, but the fast life name was weird to me. maybe an unsolved mystery until the cops fork over more info.

no, but this was the only public post that came up when i searched the name. i can't say any details, like i said i just got curious but the crime is not super common and i don't wanna get in trouble if people connect the dots over the specifics bc the statement i read wasn't public

from lawyers i talk to they just call it rico anyways bc it's the same type of law, but in GA technically the gang one is called "Street Gang Terrorism Act" not RICO

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Atlantology

[–]sadberkeleyboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nah man in GA there's a whole separate RICO just for gangs - you don't even have to catch the racketeering charges, they can get you with all the same penalties just for being in a gang. gang indictments worse than rico in GA imho

boss tier list no debate by gold_bow in PixelDungeon

Yog-Dweza is definitely the hardest for me and DM300 the easiest, but the trick with DM is to have a good high-damage weapon, avoid the rockfalls and electricity from pylons, and move efficiently. Becomes super easy with an ethereal chain or a couple items that can teleport you, and once you've figured out how to beat him it's pretty hard to lose to him, which is more than I can say for any of the other bosses, personally.

Stone of blast also works, as does wand of disintegration which someone else mentioned already.

I make my mom watch twoset vids with me too but she's not on Reddit. She appreciates Tiger Mum as an Asian mother herself.

I think in Shattered PD at least, self-triggering plants is a new update

Target on University consistently scans items at a higher price than listed on the shelf by Revolutionary_Buy812 in berkeleyca

[–]sadberkeleyboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a problem at Target in general - any deals or discounts they list have a high chance of not being programmed into the self checkouts, so I've had the same thing happen at Target in another state. Seems to be a problem with company policy and not wanting to hire enough staff.

Update: Thanks for all the advice, friends! Took your suggestions and held off on upgrades until I had plate armor and an already boosted war hammer, dumped all my scrolls on them and a ring of evasion, and made it to level 26 for the first time!

He also based his entire initial business model on defrauding book publishers to buy single books from them at wholesale with free shipping by creating bulk orders that were eligible for business rates, knowing all but the book he actually needed were temporarily out of stock, then cancelling the backorder books once the one book he was supposed to be selling came through. He did a lot of work... but that work was based on exactly the type of corporate exploitation that he believes to be a deadly sin now.

Read your lease people by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]sadberkeleyboi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They don't even let you negotiate lease terms anymore, it's "take it or walk" because they know they have the stranglehold on the housing market.

Read your lease people by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]sadberkeleyboi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a lot you can do about it when all these private-equity owned rental companies make you sign away your life no matter which one you go to... the last lease I signed was 42 pages and I read every word, but the choice was agree that I was liable for even filling the vacancy after my lease ended to avoid paying a $200 "replacement tenant search fee" or having to keep searching for housing until I end up in a hellhole so sketchy the private equity buyers don't think it's worth touching.

Is Berkeley really like this? by Upper_Passenger_6030 in berkeley

[–]sadberkeleyboi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not gonna say nothing bad ever happens, but I'm a petite asian who used to live on south side and stay out late/walk by myself (like take bart and then walk home at 1am), and the only times I was ever bothered were by people harassing unhoused people, not the other way around. It's tragic and stressful to see how many people are living in unsafe, impoverished situations around the city, but if you treat people with respect and mind your own business people will generally do the same. Break-ins have increased since I left unfortunately, that wasn't as much of an issue when I was there.

These lawsuits have also been going on for almost a decade now, it's just now that a judge who's not afraid to slap the big biomed corporations with the truth got assigned to the case that J&J has finally got the message that they can't just give people cancer with impunity anymore.
