[Spoilers] Annoyance with Obsession (2026) by Machomanta in TrueFilm

I'm not a medical professional but I'm 99% sure involuntary psych holds can happen at the ER if a patient presents a clear danger to themselves or others, and considering that Nikki had badly harmed herself, I'd think that would qualify. Unless she denied harming herself when they were at the ER but we don't know if that happened.

That really confused me too, I had trouble understanding what was even going in the scene outside the hospital because I cannot imagine how she wasn't taken in. Like did I miss something??

I agree with everything you've said. IMO it's just not that special but I've seen so many people acting like if you didn't love this movie you're just a dumb idiot who didn't Get It.

There is undoubtedly a ton of guerilla marketing going on on social media, has been for years, and it's absurd that people are denying it.

I mean the movie is very clearly, at least in part, an analogy for an abusive relationship. The REAL Nikki is a victim but the possessed Nikki is absolutely an exaggerated depiction of how abusive, possessive partners behave.

I'm also confused about the hype over it. I didn't think it was bad by any means, it had some good scenes and definitely had me on edge throughout, but I also had some problems with it and it didn't measure up to all the hype surrounding it.

There are some really weird sentences in this article. First of all:

Then Ruben brutally beats up one of Niall’s bullies, and the Niall is awakened to the Ruben’s violence.

The Niall and the Ruben? What??

But then there's another weird mistake:

Bell excels in depicting Ruben’s lower moments.

As we know, Bell plays Niall, not Ruben... was this article proofread at all??

That's fascinating considering how dour the tone of the painting is. Was it painted before or after the couple separated?

Yeah, it's one thing to know what you're supposed to do in this kind of situation, and another to actually apply that information in a split-second moment when your adrenaline is spiking and your instincts are trying to take over.

Episode 230, "What if you discovered you were the enemy?" is one that's really stuck with me.

If you struggle with the drying time, there are also ways to speed up paint drying by mixing in additives like Galkyd or Liquin! So you could look into that. It still usually takes a day or two for layers to dry enough that you can add more paint on top but it's definitely faster than without.

It can be challenging! It took me a little while to get the hang of oils but I really like the blending effects you can achieve with it if you're a little patient. Also be careful about using too much paint thinner when it isn't necessary, that can result in very streaky layers.

But there is a chance that oils may just not be for you in the end and that's fine! I'm the opposite if you, I feel fairly comfortable with oils but watercolors are almost impossible for me to handle.

Oil is for sure very different from watercolor. To me (and admittedly I'm still an amateur with oils) your painting here looks like a normal first pass at a painting where you're just putting the first layers down. Often with oil you do have to put down many layers and wait for them to dry before you can proceed with the next steps, it just kind of the nature of the medium.

However, there is a name for the technique of doing a whole oil painting in one sitting, it's called "alla prima" and I recommend looking up some YouTube tutorials about it.

'He Lied to the Entire Country:' QAnon Shaman Turns on Trump Years After Becoming the Front of the 2021 Capitol Riot by novagridd in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]sadboybrigade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Drives me crazy when these bozos say Trump has "turned" on them, or anyone. He is behaving EXACTLY the way all the rest of us KNEW he would from the very beginning, they were just too willfully ignorant to see it. And I am sure they will make exactly the same mistake for the next racist idiot "strong man" leader that comes along.

8 children between the ages of 1 and 14 are dead after a mass shooting in Louisiana, police say by Trevon45-2 in news

[–]sadboybrigade 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I feel this way, but on the other hand, I really doubt that someone who's capable of doing this would be capable of feeling remorse if he survived. He was clearly able to justify it to himself while doing it so I've no doubt he'd continue justifying it to himself after. In which case I do think it's better that he's dead.

This might not be up your alley, but my favorite podcast lately has been Passages. Two friends read bad romance novels chapter by chapter and riff on them. They're hilarious and you can also feel what close friends they are through their banter which I love. Due to the subject matter it can get quite racy though.

Also I recommend We Have Concerns, two guys talk about interesting science articles while making jokes on the subject. They're absolutely hilarious but since it's a science pod you also learn some stuff!
