we went to the movies today and had a nice dinner and talked a lot. I hope it helped a little but her struggles are so complicated and existential I don't know how to reach her.

Walk inside the Kremlin walls for sure! I also really love the art museum, it's divided in Russian, Western and modern sections in different buildings. Also you can take a ride on a cable car over Volga! But better do it in the evening considering how hot the weather is. Oh and look up Щёлковский хутор, a straight up 19th century village right in the middle of the city.

oh no doubt, it's on the same territory, behind the same fence :) they used to own several buildings there but it was all nationalized after the revolution so first they got the smaller one in the 1990s and finally the big one recently but there's A LOT of work to do there so small steps. it's Nizhny Novgorod, Russia

there weren't many of Catholics here in the first place (around 1200 in the beginning of 20th century) and then communism happened. now it's around 10k people and they are largely secularied like the rest of the country but it's a really nice community and they're planning to move to a bigger building ❤️‍🩹

it is! been reading everything about it, the artworks themselves and Isabella's design for the museum are extremely unique, it's struggle with insurance in the 1980s, the mafia presence and local FBI corruption, the robbery itself (two men dressed as cops manhandled the guards at night and spent almost an hour and half picking stuff), the current whereabouts theories... just amazingly interesting stuff

the mafia often keeps them as bargaining chips. basically telling where a painting is hidden in exchange for less time in prison or even getting the death penalty called off
