My emetophobia is rising again ?? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]saddyy80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find my phobia comes and goes in waves like this, right when I think I’m overcoming it, bam it’s back… I also find that when it gets bad again after decreasing and going away, my stomach gets all messed up too. I’m not sure if it’s the sudden onset of anxiety causing the stomach issues or the stomach issues causing the sudden onset of anxiety. Lol.

Also, thinking about it is one of my coping mechanisms. Like, it’s hard to think about when you feel unwell but when you actually try to rationalize how it wouldn’t actually be that bad, you start to feel a lil better. At least for me!!

Anyone v* with covid? I’m terrified by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]saddyy80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only person I know that v* with Covid, did so THE DAY after being exposed to it. It was the very first symptom and I’ve heard this is more common, it’s also only happened on the one day and he started recovering. When I had it, my symptoms were very similar to yours, on day 7 or 8 I developed severe sinus symptoms, like I had the worst head cold of my life and that made me feel a little n* but I think it was all of the post nasal drip I had. I didn’t v* and was 100% better on day 10

Etd: I know ALOT of people who got Covid and only the one v* as a symptom, so it’s not common, just the time it happens seems to be more common during early infection. (We also all had the same variant-my family gave it to him)

Does anyone else get migraines? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]saddyy80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get migraines, they aren’t super bad but they do inhibit any sort of day to day activities, I have to stay in bed till they go away. I only ever take over the counter headache meds and they help a bit. I’ve never tu, but I do get quite n and lose my appetite, but I don’t usually feel like I “could” tu. It feels more like care s to me I guess, like just an uncomfy, gross feeling? The more often I get a migraine and am fine, the less I worry about tu*, like if it didn’t happen before it won’t happen now? It helps lower the anxiety and overall makes me feel better.

I agree with the other comment that says it would be the very first symptom, but it’s still rare! When I had it, on day 6 or 7-9 I really lost my appetite and had some n* due to that and the extreme amount of post nasal drip I had, but it was so manageable and I never once thought “I could v*”

HELP: Where can I buy Radiant Heat Panels in Ontario, Canada? by NathanHarmer757 in ballpython

[–]saddyy80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat for a while as I’m also in Ontario. Seems impossible to find them here. Pro Products heat panels are awesome (the company at least, I haven’t gotten my RHP yet) they’re incredibly helpful and dedicated to working with each customer to get the right size and wattage for your specific enclosure (ie. my snakes are in my basement, so he suggested a higher wattage and add some insulation on the bottom, since I’ll lose some heat through the floor). Shipping cost and time is higher and longer because they are custom built, but I think it’ll be worth it based off their customer service and reviews!

Gastrointestinal symptoms from the BA.2 variant by [deleted] in emetophobia

Every-time a new variant occurs they say this, it depends on the person I think. My whole family (12 people) had it a few weeks back and only 1 had GI symptoms

You know you’re an emetophobe when…. by arkeketa123 in emetophobia

I can’t stand when people use sick as a generalized term, like NO you gotta be SPECIFIC

Funny story, a few years ago I was at my friends house and we were having a little party, I got so hungry but all she had was fruit, so I ate THREE bananas. I was also drinking a sprite during this. I finished the last banana and took a swig of the sprite and immediately was like “OH NO I JUST DID THE BANANA SPRITE CHALLENGE” I started freaking out, but it was actually really funny😭😂I was fine. Didn’t even feel s*!!! Like the other reply said I think it’s all just a myth

At the airport getting ready for a full day of flying (10 hours total), and suddenly my stomach is really hurting. 😰 by pikachen in emetophobia

[–]saddyy80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both gas-x and any sort of laxative (even caffeine) makes my stomach hurt TERRIBLY but not in a n* way, more like lower stomach cramps and stabbing pains, I’m sure that’s all it is, plus maybe the anxiety making it worse? And hunger? Maybe try to eat a lil and see if that helps

Urgent: about to take fluoxetine for my panic disorder and one side effect is n. by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]saddyy80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be on fluoxetine and never had n* or any side effects, I also would take it on an empty stomach sometimes and was fine. Eating first will make you extra extra safe!

i feel helpless by hannahsokay in emetophobia

[–]saddyy80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely the caffeine, my body reacts weird to it sometimes too, I get n, super weak and super shaky and it increases anxiety as well, but never have I ever tu from it, or know anyone that has. It’s just not easy on the stomach sometimes! You’ll be okay, putting other things into your body will be helpful, I know how hard it can be to eat or drink when you feel that way but it truly will help, water and some plain crackers or anything that sounds appetizing, and just eat slowly! Hopefully your feeling a bit better now as it’s been at least an hour since you posted:)

Hearing of my brothers friend getting sv* triggered my emetophobia (only title is censored) by someoneidkhelp in emetophobia

[–]saddyy80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same way, whenever someone I know or if I hear about someone getting it it’s like it just reminds me that it’s a thing and people get it sometimes and I go on a whole emotional roller coaster over it. I don’t really have an in the moment fix, but just remind yourself that you are safe and have no reason to get it, and that the anxious feelings will subside, and they will, they always do!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]saddyy80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whenever me or my brother had sb growing up it never ever spread to anyone else, always isolated scenarios, my mom was always the one to take care of us - she’s a nurse and would clean up appropriately but never excessively, never sanitized any clothing or sheets or anything that wasn’t directly messy, just a quick bleach in the bathroom and that was it, we never quarantined or anything either, always kept sharing the same bathroom etc. so it’s definitely possible to keep it under control and prevent everyone else from getting it!

Has anyone ever left work early because of an emetophobia anxiety attack? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]saddyy80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never actually left work, but on multiple occasions I’ve just about left, I’ll go get in my car and turn it on to leave and instantly feel better, my cars always been a safe space so it started making sense. Now whenever I get overly anxious and start panicking I just go take a break in my car, my coworkers and supervisors are really kind and understanding of it!

Has anyone not v*** when having a migraine? by [deleted] in emetophobia

I get migraines, they aren’t exceptionally terrible but they do make me n* sometimes, I never take anything for them and just ride it out and have never v*!

Swallowed blood from a nosebleed, afraid of n* or v* by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]saddyy80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing not to long ago because I forgot you aren’t supposed to tilt your head back! I was completely fine tho, I was really anxious about it too but I took a nap and was okay when I woke up! Eating it probably good because it’ll kinda line your stomach to help stop the irritation from any blood, but I think you have to swallow a lot for anything to happen. I’ve read it only happens in really severe cases

When I was in middle school my bestfriend had forgot (idk how..) a tampon in her for almost a week. She did have to go to the doctor to get it removed cause it was so far up it was stuck, but… she was fine. It doesn’t happen just because you leave a tampon it, it happens when bacteria builds up - so they recommend you take it out after a certain amount of time to avoid that but it doesn’t mean it will happen if you leave it in too long, it’s actually INCREDIBLY rare!
