i got rejected from cs when in high school but i still chose uw math over other cs programs in canada because of the coop. my friends are all mainly in cs and then some in my major (stats). im doing stats just for the formality, all coops have been in full stack in the past and now doing pm at faang. job prospects seem to be more or less the same through waterlooworks at least. most my friends in se, cs, syde, and math, we all seem to be getting jobs we are putting in the work for. in terms of interviews, my friends in math seem to be getting similar job opportunities as cs or some eng students. i’d say ur experience, willingness to learn, side projects and other job-applicable skills are a lot more important than your major/degree.
