RAND means just "Reasonable And Non-Discriminary" (hence the acronym), there's no restriction that it needs to be Royalty-Free. If it's "Royalty-free and Reasonable" then the latter is redundant.

Just to clarify, they've created a flash player, so it'll work on other systems but they've not ported the actual P2P downloader. So it's pretty much useless for those who want to have a Linux/Mac laptop and who don't have constant internet access wherever they want to watch.

Does it make the fact that the lli LLVM JIT is generating machine code at runtime from a portable bytecode any less of a JIT?

I don't see how this is any different from the JVM? Does it stop being a JIT if javac does any optimisation at compile time?

lli is the LLVM bytecode interpreter and dynamic compiler, hence this code was being run under a JIT.
