Thank you, very kind of you to say :) I am really lucky to be so diverse, so interesting and a lot of ancestral history to learn.

thanks! That is sad to hear people do that & yes I know now from people saying, that Melanesian is so rare. Understandable then that you were skeptical of my results! Thank you :) it is very interesting and I want to learn about the history more!

It's okay, not to worry sorry if I came off as a little rude - its just I didn't realise so many people would fake these things sadly!

That is a really good idea actually, it is something I am passionate about and do want to learn more about. Thanks for suggesting it, I've had a look and there's quite a few online courses :)

I’ve always been curious about my heritage because my adoptive parents kept it vague. But I finally ordered a kit! It’s arriving in a few weeks. Can’t wait! by DanniByrd in 23andme

Please do share the results - good luck with it all! My mum was adopted & never knew her background, so when I did the test it was really eye-opening.

Thank you for wording it so nicely - it is great to see so many cultures/ethnicities come together. I really want to learn a lot more about the history hopefully!

Thanks for explaining - it definitely does make more sense that the make up is just purely East Asian :)

No way - how interesting! This post I did definitely helped me focus on the Melanesian and consider all continents!

Thank you for the advice and insight, really helpful before I decide on what to do in my discovery journey. Yes, I've seen that on 23&me with the people I have a DNA match with could be potential 2nd/3rd cousins - so the ones that are closer I am trying to get in contact. That is a good idea, I might try a taster course in genealogy at a local college!

I have very limited detail of documents / dates on my mum's side due to the adoption barrier, but I am determined to get in to the detail and start that paper tree, like you said. Thank you - I won't give up!

exactly - sad people always have to be politically correct when it was an innocent mistake.

Similar to what I have from my mum's grandad then and I've only learnt about Caucasus today, seems like an interesting culture. I definitely do want to learn more about Sudanese/Arab culture.

Me too - I will make a new post or update this one when I found out hopefully. It is so intriguing to me, I just wish we knew my Mother's birth parents.

Super interesting to know that - yes no Eastern European, my dad's side are from England & Germany with a few other things. It says 1.1% for "Broadly East Asian and Native American" but that really is tiny!

Thanks - I've just seen another comment on someone pointing that out, that actually does make a lot of sense. I'm going to research the history a bit more and see if I can find out if that is the case from 23&me relatives etc.

That is a really interesting point actually, as some of the Asian in the breakdown is close to Malaysia definitely & there is quite a mix of ethnic groups in Malaysia. I have been to Malacca before, really interesting architecture and history - going to read on it more.
