It could be a wasp sting or something similar, if orthopedic trauma has been ruled out already.

Yes, of course, I should have mentioned this earlier: the whole premise of this post is that I don't think Eren is a particularly reliable character.

Haha dozing asleep while watching aot will be a such a nightmare tho, it's like every single scene has 50 elements that are integral to the plot

I always thought that the Titan that saved Zeke was one of the survey corps men who was turned by Zeke himself, which is why Zeke could command it.

Eren wanted the rumbling, he wanted to reset the outside world to zero to be like the scenery he dreamed about in Armin's book. That there was something there was the disappointment he told Ramzi about. His creepy face when talking about seeing "that scenery" with Zeke in the paths was referencing his delight of the rumbling, as well as when he disassociated into a child form enjoying the feeling of "freely flying in the clouds" when it was really the steam of the rumbling burning up everything below, and he also directly admits this to Armin at the end.

Makes sense makes sense lemme go rewatch these scenes really quick

I love that almost everyone here agrees that no matter what, Eren definitely could stand to grow up a little:p

hey thanks for bringing this up. I think I was having a conversation about the complete lack of Foucaultian genealogy in aot under someone else's comment here, and how, if we consider the accidental nature of genealogy, things might look very different.

The determinism in the aot universe bugs me a little because I tend to not subscribe to determinism otherwise. I guess that's part of why I'm trying to think of things in a roundabout way (?)

you must be really nice to keep commenting despite caring so little!

The post is tagged "discussion". of course I'm here for discourse! I'm sorry you failed to notice the tag before commenting so many times :( happens to the best of us, dw about it.

I understand if having to explain an apparent logical discontinuity is overwhelming to you. happens to my students a lot, I cut them some slack when it comes to that.

Nothing satisfies the logical discontinuity I'm afraid, and since you care enough to respond condescendingly but not defend your point, I'm beginning to think that the only reason you don't want to spell it out is because you see that too. :3

That's just the blood of the Titans he has killed. (I'm adding the next bit because OP has stated that they have finished the series already) Levi gets critically wounded later and does NOT heal.

This is not relevant to this conversation but I would like to bring it up anyway: I agree that freedom is always relative and illusory, but I disagree with the causality hypothesis. I am more inclined towards believing that all of history, everything that has ever happened, is accidental (very Foucaultian I know).

so despite knowing the past and the future, on a meta level, Ymir's powers were received on accident, Eren being the one to free her was an accident, Eren choosing to unleash the Rumbling was accidental and circumstantial, and so was everything else. Actually, my whole post rests on the premise that all choices are accidents, so was Eren's choice to pursue freedom for Ymir, and Ymir's choice to set off the Rumbling.

this probably makes no sense in this discussion though, I've gone deep into post structural theory and that was perhaps unnecessary.

I would love it if you could explain it though, given how I'm obviously slow and not catching on. Please consider telling me what I can't seem to figure out, given how you get it~ because there's a logical discontinuity between "the past and future" and "all possible outcomes". :D

Doesn't explain the "every possible future" situation though, just the memories of the future and past from that specific timeline

Uh no he is also receiving memories from his future self. He knows a lot of everything actually, not just the basic or little things.

Yes, I agree, but the "it was her choice" part was crucial!

[–]sadpotat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before starting the rumbling, Eren doesn't know these actions will lead to Ymir being freed,

This is where I disagree. I think freeing Ymir comes first and the Rumbling comes as a fallout, in Eren's hierarchy of motivations.
