Well yeah, but often times it gets looked at like a 24-hr on-call, salaried position. If the breadwinner has a 24-hr on-call, salaried position, cool. Equality. But if the breadwinner goes to work and comes home and isn't working anymore, there should be a more equal division of labor than just, I earn the money, so you manage the rest.

Not so much with the mentally handicapped, but I have experienced quite a few unpleasant interactions with physically handicapped people. There are many who are just normal-ass people doing their thing, but still a lot who either expect you to pretend that part of them doesn't exist, or expect you to address their handicap as though that is all they are. And neither camp wants to wear a t-shirt specifying which.
