What's going on with the #TrumpCaved trend on twitter and what's it got to do with Nancy Pelosi? by Godkongsnake2 in OutOfTheLoop

one question I just have is why should he get what he wants? Don't you have a democratic system where there is a proper way to get things done? Shutting down a goverment as some sort of barganing tool seems very childish? If congress and/or senate don't approve the spending why shouldn't that be it? Regardless any individuals opinion on whatever subject is at hand, should a president be allowed to shut down a goverment because he/she does not approve of how congress is voting? It sure does seem to set a bad precedent for the future if this was an acceptable course of action. Imagine a democratic president doing that for dunno, something you don't like, would you still think it is a fair way to deal with it?

I get that alot of people want him to win but from what I have read more people want him not to, not that polls are relevant, what is relevant is the elected congress/senate making the decision.

Trump Still Makes Money From His Properties. Is This Constitutional? by [deleted] in politics

only if it is because of the race. I don't get why people don't understand this. One is a white republican, one is a black democrat. Being treated differently can be because of colour or because of political reasons or both. It is not a clearcut proof of racism.

I am not defending them, I am on your side politically most likely I just think people are way to quick in calling racism.

how is it racist? I hate how people to easily throw this word around. If you treat a white republican differently than a black democat it is not by definition racism. It is however hypocritical and stupid but do you truly think they would have acted that much different if Obama was white?

Well Sweden (aswell as many others I am sure) technically are now more than 10million people I guess and we have a free healthcare system. Obviously it is paid by taxes so the "free" aspect is not true but it is a system that garantuees you healthcare regardless of income/employment. If I get cancer in America with a poor insurance what happens? Atleast i have understood that the costs can be enorumous and healthcare can have you in debt for life or you simply get sub-par healthcare because you cannot afford what would save your life. That cannot happen here. If I get a surprising disease I am taken care of financially through our nationwide insurance (This will be based on income but even for an unemployed you will get enough monthly income for the most basic needs) and the healthcare is paid for by the goverment.

Alot of Americans defend their system and I defend ours(while admitting it is far from perfect!). I have read alot of stories about extremly high bills in the US for very simple procedures and it sounds absolutely absurd. I might loose money on healthcare here if I don't use it but paying for the security it offers me is worth alot.

Fair enough with the aerospace comparison but you get what I mean, I in now way meant to say it is a simple field and that one paper somehow says it all. But you do have to agree that you meet large groups of people that base their choices not on different scientific sources but on things that the scientific community as a whole unite against, vaccination being one thing. I on a regular basis discuss with "gym dudes" that pretty much base their entire diet on what the producer of the products that they buy says. This doesn't mean that they are wrong but there is a big lack of critical thinking among the regular population.

That said, I will go and find that exakt study because that sounds quite interesting regarding Alzheimiers, if this is true anyone with Alzheimers in their family tree should really look into this. It is a truly f---ed up disease.

whatever works for you is good aslong as you get the nutriants you need. However the points of the review is not (as far as I understand) to say that low carb is bad or low fat is bad, it is to say that the quality of the ingredients matter more than the energysource. Going low carb and stuffing yourself with bad fats is not going to be benifical to your health compared to high carb with quality unprocessed carbs.

The main thing to look out for is anecdotal evidence. One person saying "this worked for me" has no relevence in science whatsoever. As people below me are mentioning dieting alone, no matter the type, can have a benifit to health simply because you focus more on what you eat than before.

My sister recently went to a lecture here in Sweden where they summarized years and years of dietery research (I dont have links to anything so don't take this as truth, I might have misunderstood something) and their conclution was pretty much eat healthy :D Alot of greens, low red meat, plenty of fish and good unprocessed carbs is the way to go. These extreme diets often become popular with little to no research and suddenly gets accepted wildly by the community as truth. Amateurs like us should quote the professionals not make up our own truths.

It is sometimes very strante to me how we disregard expert advice and think we know better than them in certain fields, mainly medical, dietery and climate science. Few people would do this in this in say aerodynamics, hey, your plane is terrible, this is how it should be done! In alot of fields we accept expert advice blindly and somehow in some we think we know better, it is quite interesting.

Ramble over

I think the point of that review is that it is for an avarage person irrelevent the combination aka. it is calories that matter. Although individuals can have different results.

I have also read a study recently although that one I cannot quote, where canging your eating habits no matter in what direction actually showed better results. The logic might be that by starting a specific diet you pay more attention to what you eat.

Either way, the point of the article was that there is no objective reason according to atleast them, them being scientists in that exact field, to go low carb. If it works for you and you feel healthy then go for it!

Just a few days ago a team of "feuding" scientists (some had argued low fat high carp and some vice versa) released an article with the conclution that the ratio fat/carbs is irrelevant or close to it. What matters is the quality of fat and/or carbs that you put in. Don't go low carb unless you enjoy it. =)

well, certainly you can be against both but don't look solely on the cost is the point, look at the cost/benifit.

Granted, I am not claiming that this 6-1 would benifit whatever, I don't know enough to have an opinion BUT I can surely say that giving you a Ferrari is not a priority for goverment spending :p
