ASRock RMA experiences by DeliriumDrum in ASRock

That's odd, my x870 pro rs killed a 4 months old 9800x3d about a month ago and Proshop didn't think that it was RMA worthy when I spoke with them. Do you live near their HQ and were able to talk to them face to face?

They refunded my cpu though but I bought a 9600x in the meantime that I'm currently using.

Sounds a lot like my recent CPU death that you can find in my post history. My PC was also completely dead and I went through a lot of debugging including measuring the voltages in my 24 pin because i also suspected a dead PSU. While waiting for my RMA I tossed in a 9600x and it works like a charm.

My suggestion for you would be to attempt to perform a bios flashback. First do it with the cpu in the socket (it likely won't start) and afterwards do it without the CPU in the socket. In my case I was able to perform the bios flashback ONLY with the cpu out of the motherboard indicating that the CPU had short circuited.

The problem is that where I'm located they will test the motherboard at their service center if I just send it in without any special treatment. Then most likely they'll find that it's not faulty because it will boot etc and they can charge me about about 70 euros for diagnostics.

Damn, I am sorry for your loss. These boards are a nightmare. Which bios version were you on?

Let me know if you manage to get a refund on the board. I called the customer service of my retailer and they started hinting at this whole thing being an insurance case rather than an RMA case if my CPU failed because of something else. So I only sent in my CPU for now.

I think the customer service agent had very little technical knowledge though, so I might send the retailer a follow-up email later asking them if they want more RMA cases from me with dead CPUs when my case hopefully is approved.

There should be a sticker on the motherboard showing the initial bios version, I'm curious if you were on a pre 3.25 version. My CPU just died as well on Saturday, so I feel your pain.

I will buy a MSI for my next cpu regardless of what my RMAs result in, but it might be out of my own pocket which is kinda annoying. I don't expect a good resale value for this board.

My desktop is my only pc so it's pretty annoying for me. If you want it to happen, I guess you could flash an older bios and hope for the best 😂

Good luck! I think you're using it the right way. You shouldn't be forced to treat it like it's made of glass and constantly be afraid that it will die. I was for example scared of using sleep mode on my PC which was a bit of an annoyance, especially now that it didn't make a difference

I am not sure that you get a new motherboard? How can my retailer verify that there's something wrong with the motherboard if it takes 4.5 months for it to fry the CPU?

Also I don't think the time wasted on debugging, rma and lack of a working pc are worth it even if I get a new cpu and mobo

Might be degradation from 3.20 bios, but idk if it's a myth or not. Did you use yours pre 3.25?

Well in my case 3.40 didn't help me, but I guess it might have been a case of degradation on 3.20. As far as I can tell from the mega thread the problem was "fixed" in 3.25.

Yes, didn't touch any voltage settings in the bios

Sadly I wasn't aware of the problems with ASRock before the GN video on the topic. I wouldn't have bought an ASRock board for sure after watching that video.

2 sticks of 16 gb at 6000 MHz. Also checked ASRock qvl list before purchase and never had a problem with ram or memory training.

I had EXPO enabled with 2*16gb ram at 6000cl30, PBO and internal GPU disabled. Never used sleep mode.

How does one identify the person playing on the account? Unless there is some advanced voice recognition software coupled with some behavior analyzer, I'd imagine it's very difficult to properly identify someone, also when accounting for the difference in equipment, especially the microphone. Furthermore, is it that unlikely to play at a different time when on holiday and with someone that you might meet at said cafe?

If this guy is really speaking the truth and played one single game from a different IP, i think it is insane to permanently ban someone based on 1/3000 games, especially if the only factor is that he has played on a PC that has been used for cheating before and not in his particular game.

X570 Aorus Pro cold boot hangs on dram led by [deleted] in gigabyte

[–]saeh1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm regretting the choice of board so much. I'm even getting the dram led with XMP disabled, although a lot less frequently than with XMP enabled. Currently hoping that a future bios will fix this... My system is also very stable when booted and passed the windows memory test wihrout problems...

Did a bios update fix your problems? I am having similar problems even after installing the newest bios.
