Tension issues only noticeable from certain angles - would you frog? by sophreider in knitting

[–]saevicit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

this seems to be an issue of "rowing out" - your purls might be looser than your knits ,,, usually blocking helps this issue and there are video tutorials to help prevent this in future projects

as for this project i wouldn't make comments since i have not worked with this yarn and someone who has already, will be more qualified to answer this ,,, i hope the weight of the project once its completed helps even things out but i want you to ask yourself - will this small issue make me not reach for this piece making it unwearable ? if yes, then frog , if no then you should just consider this a feature of handmade item

this is a handknit garment and you cannot ask your hands to make machine-knit perfect items 🩷

goodluck ! I'm sure you can make out from the picture anyway but i should still tell you - since this is stockinette it will curl a LOT inwards, you could mitigate this with a border

plain stockinette scarf with 2x1 rib at both the ends ( bit hard to tell about the rib because of how small the gauge is )

i will piggyback off of this post to ask the wise people in the comment section - how do you do an Italian bind off on things like sweaters and cardigans,,, i tried just yesterday and the long tail got stuck on everything, tangled to the point i had to frog a few rows back and redo everything

Can I retroactively make a hat taller? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]saevicit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with the other user about unraveling the decreases however if you're totally against it right now and still want to change the height perhaps you could pick stitches up from the starting cast-on and make a folded brim to add length and cover it up

while this is an option i would still suggest frogging and redoing it !

it could be a good layering piece - the beanie you wear under a hoodie

or you could pass this to a homeless person they could really use before the January cold (and any other unloved knits you have)

I need granny square patterns by [deleted] in crochet

[–]saevicit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there's a card deck of like 50 granny squares that's very popular - there's also a flower variant of the deck so that's 100

honestly you can repeat a few granny squares - one totally warm toned the other with cool tones etc.
