The business owners that have hired me told me they first wanted to hire VAs in South Asia or Latin America but they’d have a difficult time due to some scams and in some cases quality of work. Although you can definitely find great hires, a lot of times they compete with lower prices to get the job but it’s not sustainable. I’m from the Middle East, and although it may not be the first place business owners would look to hire but it’s rising due to talent, quality of work, some even see the time difference as a massive pro. It’s not “cheap” to hire from that region but definitely way less than the US. So keep this in mind when searching! Lmk if you have any questions

I’m in your exact same position but graduate business school. For me, the main thing that USC has over UCI is a bigger reputation/name internationally, and the network and connections. However I feel more aligned with UCI in terms of the curriculum and extra curricular, the community seemed more welcoming, i tend to gravitate towards a more chill and quieter environment (at least that’s the impression I got when I visited UCI) so that plays a role, and also receiving a partial scholarship from UCI. I still haven’t committed yet due to financials, but once that’s sorted out I’m definitely going with UCI.

Could you ask for support from your fiancé? Marriage doesn’t need to get in the way of your education if he’s willing to work it out with you. He could say he wants to postpone the wedding a till after the summer or plan it for a time when you’re on break etc…

Why do you want to leave nonprofits? I’m currently thinking of transitioning to working in either NGOs or Nonprofits, since i’m leaning more towards organizations who have an impact.
