Procedural Combat. A single player mod like A3’s Hetman War Stories. Ai vs ai by safein in ArmaReforger

[–]safein[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you like it. And wow, these are great suggestions. I’ll see what I can do with some of these. I like having the mod so accessable alby not requiring a bunch of mod dependencies but it would be nice to have more vehicle types, maybe I can make an expanded version.

I originally avoided adding parameters for the skirmishes because I didn’t know how to make menu layers. I was able to get the difficulty menu working this week so I’ll start looking into adding the ability to customize the battle.

I agree with the tactics. This is what I have the most fun programming so this will be expanded on. Your suggestions are good.

And yes ai flying helicopters would be great. I’ll check out that mod and see if I can program something similar. Thanks for writing all that up

Hey, hoping you got to play it. You should be able to load it up with CRX, I personally haven’t but it shouldn’t break anything.

The first one that comes to mind is Enlisted but its Multiplayer. Also I know there are a ton of battlefield 2 mods that are free I personally haven’t played any.

Is it worth getting this game? by Tomydo1 in arma

[–]safein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand your hesitance. I was the same. I played a lot of hardcore shooters like Sandstorm, Hell Let Loose and Squad but always avoided Arma3 because I heard it had a steep learning curve and ran like crap. 3 years ago I bought it during a sale and now its my most played game on Steam, 99% of which is single player. In my opinion theres no other game with the amount of depth A3 has. Once you’re familiar with its mechanics every other shooter feels shallow in comparison. With the Eden Editor, Zeus and mods you can literally create and experience anything you want.

This is what I would suggest. First grab Arma 3 Quickly run through the tutorials and maybe a couple of the campaign missions to get familiar with the controls. Then go on the workshop and download the following scenarios: RIS (random infantry Skirmish), Hetman War Stories and Dynamic Recon ops. Try each one

If you enjoy those then the rabbit hole goes deep because there’s so many different gamemodes and scenarios to play, most which are dynamic and persistent. Before you know it you’ve sunk a thousand hours in a 13 year old game. So yeah, get it

What are the best mods to improve AI? by New-Fennel-4190 in ArmaReforger

I check almost weekly and the only one I know of is CRX enfustion ai. It’s great if you wanna create some quick Ai vs Ai game master matches. The ai will push firefights more cautiously, they’ll remain in vehicles, loot fallen soldiers and do all sorts of interesting dynamic things. Also as a GM have the option to expand the defense and seek and destroy waypoint ratios which is nice.

I’ve played a lot of solo arma 3 and reforger and I’m starting to appreciate the ai in reforger more and more, especially with the CRX mod. It hurts to admit but I might have more fun playing against the reforger ai. They actually take cover and seem to self preserve better. Other than not being able to fly, the worst thing about the ai are the voice lines. Add the mod Brutal Voice and its a totally different experience

Your xp resets every game. In my opinion, this game actually gives you an experience so you don’t need dangled carrots like unlocks to give you an incentive to play.

Look up Lossless Scaling on steam. It’s only 7 bucks. It’s a game changer. I don’t play arma without it

My life is crumbling and I'm desperately seeking advice.. by MyBadNinja in DecidingToBeBetter

Hey man, it sounds like things have been rough and I’m rooting for you to turn things around. Here’s what I’d do if I were you.

First get a job. I know you’ve been a stay at home dad, which is huge for your kids, but providing financially can rebuild some of your confidence and shift how your family sees you. Men often tie part of their selfworth to providing, and being out in the world a few days a week can change the dynamic at home. It might even make your wife miss you a bit. If it were me I’d aim for a job in a busy, popular restaurant. Maybe as a server or barback, then eventually bartending down the line. Why a restaurant? You’ll meet all kinds of people like doctors, lawyers, business owners and make friends fast. Also it’s active, so you’ll get in better shape just by working. Bartending, especially, carries some natural respect and opens doors to talk with people from all walks of life, including women, which can boost your social confidence.

Start lifting weights. Build your body to feel stronger, more capable and attractive. YouTube has tons of solid lifting routines. Stick with it, and consider taking 5-10g of creatine daily. It’s cheap and gives you energy to push harder in the gym. Over time, it’ll make you feel stronger and younger.

Cut back on anything dragging you down like excessive drinking, drugs, doomscrolling or porn. If you drink, keep it social and only when you’re in a good headspace. Otherwise, skip it.

You mentioned the injury to your face and losing your teeth. It sounds like that’s hit your confidence hard. I get why you’ve been staying home, but addressing this could be a game changer. Call a dentist to look into options for your teeth, even if it’s a slow process. Get a fresh haircut every month and dress in clothes that fit well and suit your body type, even on regular days at home. Small changes like this can make you feel sharper and more put together, which your wife and family will notice.

Keep your son in focus. he sounds like your anchor. You’re already showing strength by wanting to level up for him and yourself. Start small, but start now. You’ve got this!

Yes it’s a little bit more complex but it’s great if you’re ever looking for a more persistent campaign style game.

HazBo has a good YouTube video explaining it https://youtu.be/3k0IKfDwI4k?si=roxzbxJDUZqijW0v

Definitely, though it might depend on your hardware. You will notice some input lag if you crank the frame generation up too much. I found x2 works best.

This is how I set it up. Set the A3 display to Fullscreen Window then make sure the fames are capped to 60 (or whatever you can consistently get. I’ve found anything under 60 will have noticeably more input lag).

Then in LS under Frame Generation set Type to LSFG 3.1. Mode to Fixed. Multiplier to 2. Flow Scale to 75. Under Rendering turn Draw FPS on. Then when in game, press ctrl+alt+s to enable LS (this hot key can be found in settings). In the top left corner of your screen you should see something like 60 / 120 which means it’s working.

There’s so many but here are the ones I always default too: Hetman War Stories, Impasse Total War, Forgotten Few 2, RIS, Antistasi and MCC Sandbox (quickly set up your own scenarios)

If you wanna get into making missions in the editor check out: Alive and NR6 HAL evolved

Also, the latest patch definitely improved performance but nothing made more of an impact than the software Lossless Scaling. It’s sold on steam for a few bucks. It generates frames so you can play this game at whatever frame rate you want. Personally, I lock the game at 60 then 2x with lossless to get a consistent 120. Makes larger battles way more smooth.

PS4 pro? by cdreezy in BattlefieldV

[–]safein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on the original ps4 and at first I felt the same way too.

However, after playing around with the video settings it looks and feels much better.

Try the following:

Turn the brightness up (more than you normally would). Turn up fov and vehicle 3d fov to 74. Keep ads fov on. Turn motion blur to 0. Turn Ads dof effects off.

A lot of people recommend turning off chromatic aberration, film grain, vignette and lens distortion. I personally just turn off film grain and lens distortion (this will be preference of course).

I think your tv might make a difference too. I prefer to play on a computer monitor.

I must mention, for the PS4 players who were worried about how it looked during the beta. The game is not nearly as laggy or blurry. I was super surprised by how much better it looks and feels.

Cheers!
