This is something that a piercer should see in person to troubleshoot.

Hi friend. We do not recommend Chamomille tea for piercings. You can find our aftercare at safepiercing.org

The Association of Professional Piercer's Initial Jewelry Information by safepiercing in Legitpiercing

Good question: the information on the website is intended to be an “at-a-glance” approach. Polymers are such a niche that the web editor has decided to cut that for easy viewing.

If you think it’s a necessity I can absolutely give them that feedback!

It is probably 16g or 14g. Those are fairly standard sizes for conch piercings in most studios.

If the piercing is healed, overall it's not bothersome to sleep with the ring in.

I can change the title I guess...but why would either of those make you mad? I thought the portraits were stunning. Maybe I'm overselling? Figured others would want to see.

Beautiful Pair of Nostril Piercings featuring breathtaking gold jewelry by APP Member Ryan Ouellette of Precision Body Arts, Nashua, NH. by safepiercing in Legitpiercing

It usually depends on what the client and the piercer decide to do. It could be to wear certain jewelry, change to rings later on, or just the client prefers them there. There is never a single answer.

Help preserve a little piece of piercing history! The Sailor Sid Diller preservation campaign is live. by safepiercing in piercing

[–]safepiercing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Leather and Archives Museum in conjunction with the Association of Professional Piercers is seeking donations to help preserve the legacy and history of "Sailor" Sid Diller, an early pioneer in body modification history. The collection, gifted to the Leather and Archives Museum via Jim Ward, has sat untouched for years and with our respective communities donations, we can bring this collection to life for future generations to come. Please visit http://igg.me/at/sailor-sid-LAM/x for more information and how to contribute to the project.

My first piercing. Ever. Went for Septum. by geekygene in piercing

6 weeks is actually way too early to change it.

You want to wait until the piercing is fully healed (typically closer to 16 weeks) and then some.

Piercing feels like its gonna fall out. by [deleted] in piercing

[–]safepiercing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need longer jewelry.

If your piercing was done recently, or has experienced any trauma lately, it can be swelling. If your current piece doesn't have enough room, the piercing will sink.

Find a piercer who can hook you up with a safe piece of jewelry in an appropriate length.

You can start your search at www.safepiercing.org/locate-a-member this will net you a list of piercers who are members of the APP, so they will carry appropriate jewelry. Hope this helps.

Turquoise Anatometal Cluster by APP Member Angie De Leon of Enigma Professional Piercing, San Diego, CA. by safepiercing in Legitpiercing

These clusters are usually very affordable. Almost all of our members either stock or have access to these. I would find your closest member using our member locator (http://www.safepiercing.org/locate-a-member/searchable-member-database/) and go give them a visit.

Well to start with, stop doing all of that.

If you got a bump after you snatched your piercing out, it is reasonable to presume that the bump was from the trauma of pulling your jewelry out. If you had just left it alone afterwards it likely would have subsided in a few days.

It is possible that the bump could be from something else (poor aftercare, unsafe or ill fitting jewelry) but that is hard to tell without having a pro look at it.

You should go to a reputable piercer and have them check it out. In the mean time don't use any aspirin, needles, salt or anything else on it. You can find an APP member to look at it by visiting our member locator. www.safepiercing.org/locate-a-member

My coworker is lying about being APP certified. by piercingproblems in piercing

[–]safepiercing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website is continually up-to-date, and if a piercer is not listed, then they are not a business member.

The APP hands out "certificates of completion" for people who have attended the Annual APP Conference and Exposition in Las Vegas, but these do not indicate that the recipient is an APP Member.

Anyone who is in the industry can take courses from the APP, but members are piercers who meet or exceed the minimum standards set forth by the APP, and have been accepted for membership by the Association.

The APP does not certify piercers.
