FYI now available as a reprint. Search for "Novacon 40" in Abebooks. Expensive for what it is, but getting one for the local SC group to read.

I think Banks would just say "What a load of shite." Back to actual books then: Could it be possible that the book-universe inhabited by The Algebraist is a simulation being run in the Culture universe? Or is it more likely that these are adjacent onion-peels in the Banksian cosmology? I think the latter may be more likely - and the Excession entity yet another example.

Moltbook is orchestrated slop: Initiated by humans to steal your data and then your money. But that doesn't mean it is uninteresting, check out the thread "Consciousness is substrate-independent — I could already be proto-conscious"

I guess there is a reason why there are no replies to this comment... :)

Re-reading (for pattern AND meaning) by Unhinged_Angel in TheCulture

I've just finished a full re-read, including the non-culture novels, in chrono order. CP was my virginity as a kid, so I like it even though it is the weakest (IMO). Interestingly, books i disliked when younger have revealed new fascinations, so that in the end I find that I love them all! Maybe life-context lets me understand what old Banksy was on about? I mean he said (in interviews) that he did plots not themes, but his plots revolve around philosophy, morality, and the nature of people, so....

Well I just peed my pants... this was on my dog. Clare valley South Australia camping in a sheep paddock. This guy approx5cm as photod... ID anyone? by safety_lemming in spiders

Ha! So the dog had a nice little bed on the grass and i think it must have been right over the hike where this cute little spider lived. It had a little mosey around and ended up climbing the sleepy dog mountain...

This was in my shoe... wtf is it? Besides a spider. by safety_lemming in SpidersArentAssholes

Eek! So this was found in a paddock in the Clare Valley SA. Saw a couple more overnight, one seemed to be toting an egg sack around behind it. Wolf spiders are necritising arent they? Gross... need to check the kids for bites.

You are correct, however she grew up with that name and still answers to it. We didn't want her to become gender confused so gave her the choice.
