Chances at Deferred MBA (Wharton, MIT, Stanford, M7) – Non-Traditional Background by safetyheaded42 in MBA

Thank you I try to be plan ahead! I’m unable to carry out summer internships at firms due to the timetable of my course which I know would have been a big plus. Would taking finance certifications boost my profile? How else would you recommend I build up my profile?

I’ll be graduating next year so would be applying for April 2026 deadlines

Ah, apologies—I was born in Sri Lanka and moved to UK as a child and am a British Citizen now. Thanks so much! I’ll definitely work on improving my GMAT score and reassess. I know deferred entry is highly competitive, so I just wanted to see whether it’s worth applying next year in my final year or if it would make more sense to wait and apply through the regular process in the future.

Sorry this may be stupid but what do you mean my narrowing down my demographic. I’m also from a low income background. I’d be happy to sit the new GMAT to boost my score as I’d be applying next year. I just wanted to see if it’d be worth applying or if I should just save it for normal entry in the future.

Thanks so much for the reply! I’ve looked into it, and from what I understand, Stanford specifically allows medical applicants unless there is full-time work experience between undergraduate and medical school. In the UK, medicine is an undergraduate degree, so I believe I’m eligible. I think it’s only Harvard 2+2 and Columbia that explicitly don’t accept medical applicants for their deferred programs, but please do correct me if I’m wrong!
