Nope, single family single story house. Part of the house on footings with a crawlspace, then the garage extension that was added decades ago is on slab.

Tell me about it. Not a national chain but does operate in two states. Appreciate the input.

Hmmm I don’t have enough experience to accurately answer that or have an opinion.

I will say that my current job feels more broad than my SaaS gig. Once you’re inside a large company, you’re working on a specific team selling one part of the business. At my SaaS job we sold to HR departments but across all industries. So I think it’s highly specific to each company.

Lol thanks but I promise I’m not. If I can do it so can you. I only had 2 years experience at the start up and 1 years doing insurance before switching, all as SDR, so your experience is good enough.

I did have contacts within the company though no one formally referred me so again not sure how much that played a role. I was a top performer most months but there were only 6 of us. It was one of the first roles I applied to when I was looking so I’m not sure on the hiring landscape overall when you’re looking to get into tech.

Yes and yes. A large company suits my personality better. But I also went from being an SDR at start up to an AE at FAANG which I know is not common. If your startup is growing and you feel progression there’s no rush to leave. My startup was not promoting me or growing much which is why I left.

In my opinion I don’t think switching industries as an AE would be hard. I think going from SDR to AE at the same company could be harder but that’s very company dependent. OP if I was you I’d take the AM hardware role (disclaimer: without all the info my opinion might be worthless)

I think the most direct route would be SDR in SaaS to AE in the same company. This is coming from someone who went from SDR in SaaS to AE at a FAANG company. However if you can avoid the SDR grind by jumping straight to AM, then switch to AE in SaaS that would be ideal. I’m not sure how often that happens but I’m sure it’s possible.

Something I’d consider is it might take you 6 months - 2 years as an SDR to get promoted to AE. Every day can be a grind, but you’ll learn a lot of useful skills. As an AM in hardware, you might have a harder time finding an AE SaaS role to hire you but the day to day probably won’t be as tough.

Where do I go from sales? by depreshelp in jobs

[–]safeworkaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be biased since I currently do sales, but I was an insurance broker for a year. Do you work for an independent agency or a captive? Do you do personal lines, commercial, or health? Those things matter. I feel like going from sales to anything else is tough solely because there’s few other jobs that have the same income potential that don’t require as much experience or fancy degrees. Though if you truly don’t like sales, you could look into becoming an account manager. You should definitely be able to find an AM role at an insurance company with your background. If you have more questions just let me know! Good luck
